looking for a project car

im SORTA ready to make my own project car ive been doing constant research on as many aspects of engine development as i can

my question is

what car would be best?

i want something RWD with cheap parts (sorry im still in school lol) and preferrably less electronics and more mechanics to it (basically a car that CAME with no power steering AC ABS power locks etc etc) and one with stability control (i kinda dont like dying)

am i wayy in over my head with my demands?

i was looking at an "eight six" 1986 corolla but theyre extremely hard to find these days

at this point im not crazy serious about getting my own project car but this certainly isnt a pipe dream

87-93 Ford Mustang 5.0L. Cant get much simpler then that. They are RWD and came from the factory with 225hp. They are as basic and simple as you can get. Parts are dirt cheap and they are very easy to work on.

Ford Mustang (third generation) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You wont find stability control in any car unless it was made within the past few years. Its only become common recently.

its not hard to keep up because there is one everyday

However i just dont understand one thing , you had some threads asking people about a turbo set up for a civic and how to do it and also you had a thread about a engine swap for your civic , thats why i thought you were actually thinking of doing that.

BTW i read that while searching threads about a putting a custom exhaust in mine ...

anyways like i said old camaros are nice and you can get them cheap

yea but buying a camaro is not buying a beast is more like buying a performance car that you can actually make it a beast...while buying a civic is more like buying a project car that you can make it a performance car

You can rebuild my car... make a JDM Project car.
Civic

A friend of mine changed the front 'clip' of his integra to be an integra Type R... I didn't like the look of his square lights compaired to the round ones... But a Civic Type R... you never see those!

NOTE: Buy my Car. ROTFLcopter.

While eight-six's are great (I'd love to find one myself) good luck ever finding one for a decent price, thanks to initial-d and best motoring...lol.

To be honest, look for a MKI (1st gen) toyota MR2 (same engine as an ae86) and it's lighter and better layed out for better handling (mid engined-rwd).

I've been racing one in autocross competitively for the past 3-4 years. For the mods we've done and money we've spent, it's unbelievable how fast it is on the track.

Parts are cheap, it's easy to mod, super-reliable, the engines (4age and supercharged 4agze) are bullit proof, and they can be made fast (both for straight-line and on a race track) very easily.

...and they look sick! lol

Another option I would suggest for you is a 1st gen miata. Might be harder to find one for a good price, then an MR2 but same principal. They are light-weight rwd and very easily modifiable.

Compaired to MR2's and miata's, camaro's and mustangs will handle like garbage, even if you do suspension work. They are just too heavy and their engines alone weigh almost as much as an MR2 or miata...lol.

So...the looks of a car are more important than it's performance?

No way man.

....and MKI MR2's look SICK imo. Especially with the rear wing removed... (I'm not joking)
