Looking to own a '00 SIR
Hey guys,
I'm looking to purchase a civic sir in the coming days, I have found one for a decent price but the K's are a little high, I have a owned a 97 accord EXR with a F22b1, I am no stranger to tuning and modding etc.
I am unfortunately not that well versed with the B16A2, how are these motors? The sir im looking at has 220XXX Km on it and by the look of the car its all highway because the car is mint. Is this too high? Should I be worried? How long to these motors last? I realize these are questions that come down to the driver and how well they maintain the vehicle but lets assume that the owner is like me and does oil changes every 3500-4000K and uses high octane fuel every so often.
Also what is the code for the civic sir, is it EM1 or EK9?

I drive an 00 SiR. Love it to death! Was going to sell it, but couldn't do it...lol.
Only run 91+ fuel in it. Do not run 87. It only makes it run like garbage. It was not designed to run on 87.
The car is great, the engine is fantastic. Do the timing belt and water pump every 100k, do your oil changes regularly and it will last you a very long time. If the car is mint, I wouldn't worry too much about it having 220k on it. When you test drive it, have a friend follow behind and watch for blue smoke out the exhaust (burning oil).
You will love it. They look great, they're quick and nimble and get awsome fuel mileage. My record so far is 700km on one tank combined, city/highway. And they have, like every other civic, huge aftermarket support.
The chassis code is EM1.

lol thanks for the advice guys, I am now the proud owner of a CDM (Canadian domestic motor lol) 2000 Honda Civic SIR. Absolutely amazing motor and the body is excellent.
Now what to do first? I want an intake ASAP the stock intake takes up to much room. I want it lowered but I want it to be height adjustable, I want an exhaust and I do like the cost and sound of Vibrant. What do you guys think any recommendations?

But yea, definately use 91 octane, you get better fuel milage so it works out even if you used 87.

My advise to you is enjoy the car in stock form for as long as you can, get a decent alarm first if it doesn't have it.
Afterall, if the unfortunate happens, you won't be losing out too much. And you might change your mind in a year or so therefore, you won't lose too much money on the car.

Alarm is #1 for sure. Plus putting in a well hidden fuel pump cut off switch gives you a little more piece of mind too.

Mine's a '00. 240k and runs like a top. I have to do an 0 2 sensor and it's going to need an engine mount and some busings, but that's the cost of living the low life
Oil spray and regular oil changes=car forever.
My car consumes about 1L of oil btwn changes, but it doesn't burn a drop of anything. Still pulls great and drives smooth. Stay away from cheap mods, makes your car feel like you got it from walmart.
