Looking for a car. Budget 80G everything in. Ideas?
Mommy is looking for a new car right now.
Budget is 80Gs, everything in, taxes, everything.
Needs to be four door, with alot of room, driveable by a lady. No crazy hard to see blind spots, and so forth. Must be automatic. Comfortable, blabla, womanized you know.
Used for...?, Umm ... work and back (20km each way) and then random soccer games with little 10 year old, birthday parties, up north sometimes in the summer, and so forth.
Suggestions? (Oh and must be new.)
Im leaning towards the Lexus GX 470 with the ultra package... Around 66G or so... LX would be nice but budget too low for that.

Buy a new Dodge Grand Caravan. You should be able to one absolutely fully loaded out the door for well under $40,000, and lightly loaded for under $30,000. Better yet, buy a demonstrator and save some more.
The Grand Caravan will be a good comfortable daily driver, minimal blind spots, perfect for soccer teams, perfect for birthday parties, perfect for going up north.
With the change left over from your $80K budget, buy 1000 shares of TD Canada Trust stock, your first year's insurance, and a tank of gas.
Your TD stock will pay a dividend of $2.44 per share each year, which should pay for car insurance in perpetuity and still have some left over for gas.

The Caravan perfectly fits the o/p's requirements for a vehicle.
What he probably should add to his post that if mommy is willing to spend 80g's, she proably wants something in that price range.
I would suggest a Lexus RX350 or a Infinity FX35/50.

Oh I forgot to mention...
Mommy will never in her life settle for an american car ever, ever in life.
And believe me nothing will change her mind.
Shes looking for something, like I mentioned, but not something cheap, something businessy in a way.
I swear shes so undecided now. Im still leaning towards the lexus.
Or a BMW X6.... Just started reading up on those.
But I dunno how the blind spots are in the X6.
Were gonna spend the weekend test driving a couple of these and well see how it goes.

I'm sorry, imo the X6 is one of the stupidest and most useless suv/car crossovers I've seen. I loath those types of cars and I think they are a waste of money. The interior space is compromised and way too small for the size of vehicle and the handling is compromised because of the ride height, all to achive a certain "look" or to have it fit into a certain category.
But then again, I'm not buying this, your mom is. If she likes it, by all means. To each his/her own.

Volkswagen Routan Execline, fully-loaded about $50,000 and taxes, "luxury living room on wheels with full leather, two rear seat monitors for the 2nd and 3rd rows, 500-watt digital sound system, eight-way power front seats, navigation system, power-adjustable pedals with memory, hands-free phone system and Xenon headlights", and can carry the soccer team.

I would either go with a Loaded Honda oddessy if was going the minivan route or the lexus RX350 if I was going SUV route both are awesome vehicles! You might want to check out the new Venza from Toyota as well!

The new RX's just started rolling off the assembly line at work witin the past few weeks and they are sweet.
The Venza Im actually considering. hey are very, very nice inside, AWD available, lots of nice options (BT, JBL stereo, NAVI, leather, etc) 270 hp and all for about the same price as a loaded CRV.

I would advise against SUV's just for the amount of gas mileage you'll get. To pose a serious, well thought out recommendation (cause I was thinking the same thing for myself), I'd recommend either a Mercedes C300 or C350 aero packaged....if you can afford a little more, then the C36 AMG. The C63 is simply insane but, may be a little out of price range all said and done. Absolutely fabulous car - a few friends bought one...oddly enough all in white with black leather interior....some are auto and some manual. An other I'd recommend is the new TL. Unfortuantely, seeing out the rear may prove a little difficult while reverse parking for those first few months of getting use to the dimensions of the car. And my last recommendation is the RS4 by Audi. 4 wheel drive, luxurious and handles like a champ. These 3 I've personally shopped for and were offered around your price range to me. Hope that helps.
