Looking for another car 12-18k Budget any ideas?

Looking for another car so looking for ideas! I prefer imports over domestic's.
Here are a few MUST HAVE'S

MY BUDGET IS 12-18k (at a maximum of 20k)
- 4 Door
- SAFE ( 2 kids)
- Fully loaded (most cars now a days are)
- Leather (I highly prefer that it does have leather)
- A/C ( most cars now a days do lol)
- Sunroof!
- Roomy
- Looking for a sedan or MAYBE SUV more into the sedan
- RELIABLE ( This is a major must as it would be a daily)
- Fuel economy ( Id expect modest fuel economy 4 - 6 cyl NO 8 cyl cars)
- Newer than 2004
- Interior/Exterior ( Something that looks good inside and out)
- No civic's I have an SiR I do have a fun car already

Here are a few ideas of my own:

2005 Acura TSX
2005 Acura TL
2005 Audi A4 (Iffy on this - NOT so reliable)
2005 Subaru WRX ( Fun car- no leather)

Those cars you listed... for your budget, you'd prob only find high milage ones.

and none of those are ones i'd consider fuel efficient.

you can find an 04-05 tsx in that budget with around 80-100k no problems.

What do you consider "high milage"? Its not hard to find a TSX or A4 with low milage for 12-15k no problem. id consider low mileage 30-80k. Expecially how the economy is. I did put modest fuel economy, Im not expecting a civic but I also do not want a gas guzzler.

if you want a tsx or a audi then dont expect uel ecomony , those two are the worst in gas ... A friend from work had a tsx and he always complain about how bad they were when it came to gas...

Plus when it comes to parts audi and tsx arent cheap...

cudos to the OP or yourself if you can find an Acura TSX ,TL or A4 w/ Low milage (and I consider low milage 30,000 kms or less).

Paying 15-20K on a vehicle w/ 40k+ kms doesn't make sense IMO. especially with the ones the OP listed.

$15-20K on a used car, + used cars that use premium gas + all the otehr associated costs with maintenance and what not ... IMO there are better options, but thats just my 2 cents.

the OP said they have 2 kids ... I'd use my $ more wisely in that case then overpaying for a used luxury car. but its not my life and not my $ so to the OP good luck on the search! hope you find what you are looking for

You seem to be on the fence at the moment saying you wouldn't pay 15-20k on a used car plus premium and maintenance. I would like to hear what you consider better options that is why I opened this thread feedbacks great! I see it this way, I do the maintenance myself(always have), premium fuel on a luxury new or old car if its recommended then its recommended so I don't get the argument there.

Im not buying another vehicle as an investment at all I need something comfortable and reliable. My kids are very well taken care of, no cut backs being taking there for a car lol.

Heres an UPDATE: took a TSX for a drive, feels like a solid car a bit smaller than I expected!

also took an Audi A4 out for a drive very nice car also felt solid I find it a bit roomier in the drivers compartment.

Both cars I drove for approx. 100km they are definetly not civic MPG cars lol. Keep the ideas coming!!!!

Have you looked at the 2007+ Honda CRV's? They are pretty good on gas, around the 28mpg for city driving, and roomy. There are a few on autotrader that are in the low $20k and hight teens. Most have around 70,000-90,000km, but there is one with just under 47,000km.

I was recently in the market for a new car - specifically a 4 dr. sedan with a manual tranny. It was time to retire my old civic and Ford was offering cash for clunkers - $1500 for the civic. 0% financing for 60 months on a brand new ford fusion at the time. This was a great deal - NO INTEREST FOR 5 YEARS. I come from a family of hondas and toyotas, but have heard very good things about the fusion. Was going to pull the trigger on a 6spd. manual model, but found a great deal on a 06' Accord 5spd with less than 60,000 km. All in all, very happy with the accord.

I personally love the TSX. However, looking at the market price, 04-05 TSX goes for $15,000+ and with higher mileage that I would have wanted. 06-07 are around $20,000+. I went with an Accord instead.

I was also looking at the TL. Obviously more expensive, but the best looking car out of the list you mentioned, IMO. Again, higher mileage for the price range you're looking for.

Another car I considered was the Subaru Legacy. Very nice looking car and safe as well. I could not find any that were cheaper in price.

Of your list, I think I would pick the TSX. Reasoning:

- Classy looking car, luxurious for the price.
- It's an acura
- comes with plenty standard features that you are looking for
- It's really a high performing Accord - so it should be reliable (you could just get an Accord and save some money).
- When tastefully modded - it looks great.

I hope that helps and good luck.

To the o/p, what did you get if anything?

If I was in your shoes and already had a fun car to drive like the SIR and was looking for a safe, reliable, economical daily driver for the family, I would probably buy a brand new Civic or Corolla. Sure they may not be as nice as some of the cars you listed, but they are new and have a warranty, they are safe and reliable. Both the Civic and Corolla are both very nice for simple economy cars.

I cant imagine what the maintenance costs of a 5 year old Audi or TL might be. The WRX's are pigs on gas and are expensive to insure. TSX is nice, but I would look at a 05+ V6 Accord EX instead. More power and room inside and they are probably cheaper too.

Hyundai Sonata? There's 4-cylinder and V6 models, and they have the features that you listed.
