Lips from speedtech....

Hi All,

I was just wondering who here has bought the lips from speedtech, or heard anything about them. I want to know what they thought of it as far as fitting and quality.

Now I know they are made of ABS plastic and some will say that it is **** and to go for fiberglass. But I don't want to put tooo much money into it, and $120 at speedtech for paid members seems like a good deal?

My car is a 98, and it is not lowered, therefore less chance of something happening to my lip, so I assume I assume I would be safe with even though it is plastic?

What do you guys / gals think?

I got my first Sir - style lip from Sherman. It was ABS plastic and lasted for about six months until I cracked it getting off of a driveway at Kennnedy/Ellesmere.

Mind you my sedan has H&R race springs so I took a big risk sporting that lip. I switched over to fiberglass.

So do you think off stock springs and not lowered it will be at risk of cracking?

How much did you pay for Fiberglass?

mind you, no matter what kit you put on, it will damage regardless. ABS or fiberglass it will break, both can be repaired so I guess you shouldn't be too worried

Heheh..anyhow I broke 2 lips this winter..both ABS plastic, I know NOT to leave lips on in winter time next year

so abs should be alright? i think i might be up for a lip as well.....

mind you babs, IMO lowering your car would do more for the look than adding a lip.... just my opinion tho

thanks for the thread tho, i had the same question in mind!

Jon's right, no matter what kind of lip you put on you can't stop it from getting damaged. I guess you just have to watch it. I got my lip for $140 painted, I think I paid too much at that time.

Dude, totally agree. I would love to lower my car, especially with my dam 16" rims with low profile tires. Just doesn't look good enough on stock height. But it is too expensive to lower a car PROPERLY, and I rather dish out on a combined amount of stuff on my car.

i dunno about too expensive i'm riding on stock shocks for now, and i'm doing fine. eventually i'm going to change ALL the suspension but i dunno i HATE the wheel gap it drives me insane, that's just me personally tho, but i am a fan of the lip on the 96-98, esp the CTR lip i think it's hot!!

I was told it would cost close to $1500 in order to lower your car so it doesn't gice you problems in the future.

I know, I hate that gap. Is the CTR the same as the Type R? If not do you have any pics of what the CTR looks like?

Are you thinking about getting the lip form speedtech?

www.speedtechauto.com

It's a pretty bad site though, your better off calling them. Talk to Sherman.
