Just put on 17s....

Just put 17s on, 204/40. Just wondering what I should be looking out for when I drive. I know the obvious is pot holes but what about anything else? I cringe at any bump I go over and ontario roads are ****, im going to need denchers by the time summer is over....any tips? And don't say get diff rims.

I fell pretty much every crack on the same size tires. Just be careful. If you don't know the road you're on, then drive slowly. There's only so much you can do.

I avoid just about everything I can while still remaing safe and in control. That includes sewers, big cracks, funny dips, pot holes of all sizes, bumps, etc...Just try to take the smoothest line and keep a safe following distance so that you can see them coming.

The worst is going dow University every morning and having to cross the streetcar tracks at Queen...that ish is a mess and I cringe every time i approach and roll over them.

And wait until you throw your steelies back on, you'll think you're in a Cadillac for the few minutes.

i've got the same, 205/40/17's. another tip is drive in the left lane on a two lane road when possible...not as rough and no water drains. and the 401 too! so rough. i've hit some pretty big bumps that have made me cringe and its all good so far. next time around, i'm going 205/45/17 though for that little extra cushin from the bumps.

other then that, enjoy. which rim/tire did ya go with?

Thanks for the Advice pplz, I try and avoid every thing possible. I can see this getting annoying. I've got I-Speed rims with Yokahama Az 250s er somethin...lol...they look nice.... The ride is rough with these 40's though I know what yer sayin about the cushin...my steelies felt way better. Thes tires also seem to be wanting to steer themselves...:P

You'll notice the "tracking" with a lower profile tire. It's most likely due to the stiffer sidewall. Instead of absorbing imperfections in the road, it follows them.

205/40's aren't that bad, i mean compaired to what everyone way saying about how bad the ride would be i find that they arn't that bad, of course they could be better but not bad, same here after next season or next tires 205/45 for me...

205/45 is fine for 16's, but will result in a larger tire diameter / circumference for 17's...so it will throw the speedo / odo off and also create a greater chance of rubbing when lowered.

BBP, you're on stock suspension still, right?

yeah you're speedo will be off as well as you'll rub if you're lowered... 205/40 and 205/45 is a big difference especially on civics/el's

I had a 96 EX 4Dr with 14" rims...I think the only EK that ever came with 13's was the CX hatch.

Even if the rims were 13's the tire size would be the same as other EK's and 205/40/17 is the right size.

The 17's I just put on my car ride surprisingly well. Big bumps, holes, railroads are more pronounced, but nothing too unbearable. I will be avoiding certain roads because I know they are bad though.

My biggest concern is the noise. They hum like crazy very loudly. I think it has more to do with the fact that the tires are pretty worn. I'm in the market for new tires though because the 205/40/17 are the wrong size for my 03 Civic.
