There's a lot of misconception of what's JDM, and there are those out there trying to pawn off USDM Civic parts as JDM. There are parts that are completely different and then there are parts that are completely the same...you gotta becareful.

**Out of 100 people who claim they have JDM cars, only 15 of them do. It's an analogy to just give you an idea**

What if your car is COMPLETELY stock.. wouldn't that be technically JDM?

Depends on where you got it. Was it built in the U.S or in Japan?

JDM specifications are different from USDM (some parts) So if your car was manufactured in North America...sorry you have a USDM car and that is worth nuttin' in North America...but b/c they don't make JDM cars in N.America those parts are expensive...rare commodity.

It's not a matter of where the cars were made, it's a matter of which market the vehicle is destined for at time of assembly. For instance, all USDM 5th gen sedans were built in Japan believe it or not.. mine was and anyone else here who owns one can look at their vin and it will start with a "J"... that means built in Japan... does it make it JDM? No because Honda used USDM spec parts when they put them together, and shipped them all off to North America to be sold as USDM vehicles.

IMO, this whole notion of JDM stuff is so gay. Yeah, some of the stuff from Japan is cool, but some of the other stuff is just nasty. Similarly, the same thing applies to stuff from North America. I don't care where something comes from as long as it's cool (which is subjective based on my personal opinion).

Calling something "rice" just cause it's not JDM is stupid. My car does not look JDM, but I bet I'll be able to spank a whole bunch of "JDM" Civics. Who would be "rice" then?

The way I see it...to each their own.

Everyone mods their cars differently, some for audio, some for power/speed, some for the bling...there are people out there who won't buy something for their car unless it glows in the dark...we can't condemn them...it's their car.

So JDM or no JDM it's a preference...

And Jon, you're right...everyone's driving on the left hand side...so what are people gonna start doing now to make their car's JDM, do a "driver/passenger side swap" ?? Is there even such a thing...I'm sure there is.

And Duy, thanks for cleaning up my comment...I was all over the place with that one.

We all at the end of the day drive a HONDA CIVIC...so this whole RICE Vs JDM has got to stop...:fustrated

The variety of interests at TCC is what drew me to this club over others. I think it would be best for these two clubs (JDM and Civic Hatchback) to be a little more open to people who just want to associate with them.

Anyone else agree?
That's why this club is so much better than all the rest.

enthusiasts

I think we're getting way ahead of ourselves, if people find pleasure in finding differences amongst themselves and want to segregate themselves, more power to them.

My car is relatively stock in apperance and when I come to the meets it helps me reinforce that by seeing cars that don't look like mine. But I find everyone cool.

The bottom line is that we are "Car Enthusiasts"... we at TCC distinguish ourselves in 3 ways...

1st We're a Honda Club
2nd We identify ourselves with the Civic family of cars (mostly)
3rd We are "Anti-Street Racing"

Thus, we too are guilty of finding our own segregation.

In reference to this non-JDM, JDM, USDM thing.

You can't bash JDM fans for not having "True JDM Cars"

The are afterall, Car Enthusiasts. JDM Car Enthusiast.

So if labeling people and being critical about OTHER PEOPLES CHOICES, makes you happy go ahead, but I have other things that I'd rather do.

I drive because I love it, not what other people think.
