it's true man, my bro in law got his s2k for $13k cdn (that's ****ing cheap) but it had like 160 000 km on it...and he had the guy drive it here so he didn't have to get it imported so he only paid taxes and ****...but by the time the whole process was done, he spent so much that if he spent an extra few grand he could've gotten one here with less than 100 000 km on it...there's importing, taxes, emission and cert, which means you gotta buy extra **** if it doesn't meet cdn standards like daytime lights...i was on the tip of importing a 350z form the states too cause they're so cheap, but it's risky plus too much hassle

my boss got 2 350z n 3 g35 coupes from states, he is driving g35 right now n he never had any problems in winter time with starting, i know that he had to pay tax, ac fee n other staff, u need daytime runing light, stickers on visers in french for airbags, n recall letters from dealer, then u go to c tire for inspection, then safety n etest, n u can drive it. yes it can cost u same amount money after everythink, but not necessary. when my boss got all the cars he saved on each car. right now he has only one g35 n one 350z, cos he sold other ones n he made money on them. he let me drive 350z last summer, n its lots of fun. i got some pic of all the cars.
