i never want to experience this again...

Well yesterday my g/f and i were on our way to the gym but we were running a little behind schedual, she had to be back home intime for some gay t.v shows.

so anyways i'm on my way to the gym, i took eglington to winston churchill. so i'm waiting at a red light to make a left turn. i notice 2 young girls on the corner of the intersection, my guess was they were probably around 12-13, didnt think anything of it. one of the girls starts to run across on the green and her friend follows behind. when the first girl makes it to the island where the street light post is she turns around and doesnt see her friend. she looked around really confused. her friend was hit by a 02 jetta going about 60-70. she got thrown to the other side of the intersection. i was about to throw up, my g/f start screaming and crying. i make my left turn and call 911 and make my way back to the intersection to help and give a police report. the front of this jettas windsheild had a hole the size of a large watermelon. the little girl was laying down motionless, her shoes were still where the car had hit her. her clothes were ripped and torn. i didnt want to get too close seeing as there were a couple of people helping her. i was there for a bit giving a witness report, and i asked the cop if she was going to be ok. he said that they got her talking very little. so thats always a good sign. i pray for her and her family and hope that she will live and get back on her feet.

Sorry to hear man.....this brings up another incident I had to cope with...

Driving home from wasga on May 24 long weekend, lots of traffic on 400 so we decide to take airport road. So we are cruising along with alot of other cars at a good speed then a Volkswagen cabriolet silver comes flying by us with his top down with a blonde in the passenger seat and cuts infront about 2 cars infront of us. This is half way up a hill, we are already stunned that somebody would pass going up hill, then 2 seconds later a old POS ford tempo goes flying bye with about 4 ppl in it windows down and everything because it is a nice day out. Then I guess that the person in the silver VW that just passed everyone didn't think anyone would be passing him decides to pass some more cars going up hill and pulls out RIGHT infront of the ford tempo that is flying, the tempo the swerves to the left hits the side of the road (rocks, gravel dirt, sand, etc) and goes flying off of it. By this point almost at the top of the hill and the way the hill was that the sides of it was about a 30-40 ft descend to the bottom, so as the tempo goes flying, dust is everywhere no1 can see, but brakes lights and the cars nails the small poles (wooden) on the side of the road, and then out of nowhere I see a body come out of the car. Once the dust settles, I notice the body is about 60ft from where the car landed and it is a kid about 13 years old. Kid is laying motionless. 2 others come out of the car running after the kid with all bloody faces. Very tragic. We stopped so did about 15 other cars. We decided to go on because of all the other cars and because ppl were following us because they were visitors to our cottage. We did call 911 and report it and they said they had numerous calls already. Still to this day, do not know if that kid survived or the other person I did not see. Very tragic, very.....

Tragic stories....

Airport is a horrible road, people speeding all over and pulling dangerous passes on the hills especially on the long weekends. I know of a few friends who have had a family member or close friend die in a car crash on that road...

I feel for you man.. sorry to hear about that. I hope that girl makes a recovery... Who was driving the Jetta? A teenager or an old man... or a middle aged person... or...?

I got hit by a car once and I flew half way into an intersection when I was younger.. I was on my bike riding through an intersection.. and a friggin' taxi driver.. (going to turn right).. looks left to see if any cars are coming but doesn't see me coming from the right.. and hits me and throws me half way into the intersection. Just a couple bumps thankfully and thankgod for wearing a helmet.

he was in Canada pedistrians have the right of way regardless... it's kinda stupid.... but then again it'll be looked at as an accident if he stayed at the scene.... however if he runs it's a crime....

I dont think u can be held at fault for a pedestrian running accross through a red light/do not walk sign on a busy street/intersection when the vehichle has a green light/right of way for their direction especially if they stay on scene and witnesses can attest to the details etc. my gf's sister was hit on her bike last summer while going through a red light and she was given a ticket for running a red and usually bike riders are treated as pedestrians as soon as they are struck by a vehicle so it all depends on what exactly happened like if it was unavoidable etc. and if the driver of the vehicle is ruthless they actually have the right to sue for emotional damage caused by the accident

but enough of the technical ****, its a young girls life here and what matters most is that she pulls through and is okay...I just wish kids would be more careful...I've almost hit a few cuz they just run out in the street etc.

a few days ago a vehicle on victoria park just north of O conner was stopped in the left hand lane ... doors closed ... 4 way flashers going I was turning left from elginton and turned intot he left lane (as per the law) and saw the car so I slowed and went to move intot he right hand lane...(after traffic had cleared out of the way) and as I went in the right hand lane a woman and her child stepped from in front of the stopped vehicle right into my path..... thank god for autocross and good brakes I came within inches of them..... didn't hit them so I got on my way.... after they got outta of my way... some peopel just have no respect for traffic and a 2000 lb+ car coming at them...

The Jetta wasnt at fault, he was going on the green as he should, he couldnt have seen her comming cause there was a guy making a right turn in the right lane and the girl just ran infront of the jetta. the driver on the jetta was in his early to mid 20's.
