I Hate Doing Brakes *Rant*

The Car: 92 Integra GS-R
The Job: Install KVR Pads and Rotors All Around
Estimated Time: 30min/Wheel
Actual Time: 6hours!!!!!!

first off, mechanics...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont put back those stupid set screws on the rotors!!!!! impact driver was no match...have a handfull of broken bits and now dull drill bits from drilling out those ***** all 8 set screws

secondly...anti-sieze is you damn friend, use it!!! after having to use a sledge to get the rotors off the hub dammit!!!

thirdly...after battling with all four corners for the past 6 hours i feel like i've been in a street fight and i cant wait to feel it even more tomorrow when I wake up.

now atleast I was able to also get off that rattling heat shield while the car was up but I didnt even try and deal with the shifter today...at this point I dont even think I'm gonna until I can get it onto a hoist

now I have to make a trip to crappy tire to exchange a busted ratchet and some phillips head socket bits

hey, atleast it was nice outside today right???

I need a beer

you mean the screws to hold the rotor in? use a punch to get them to come out. you know...those screw driver looking things that you hammer and it frees it up? works like a charm for me every time!

i hate those damn set screws
i grind a slot in the top of the screw (for a flat head), then use a screwdriver/vise-grip combo to get them out
impact driver would be much easier but its not in the tool collection

its called an impact driver....and matt said he had no luck with them....i've been there before. Thats when i bust out the old electric impact with the adapter peice that fits a philips screw driver bit in it....that usually works for me. I hate screwing around with impact driver...especially since mine is a powerfist....damn cheap tools.

the car overall is clean as hell which is why I dont think they bothered looking over it very well...like the rear brakes were shot to hell like no pad material left on em...I'm the second owner of the car and the guy before took very good care of it...but I guess he might have never done brakes yet or maybe once in its life...he only took the car to downtown acura cuz thats where he bought it

oh...and damn does my body ache today...when I get my own house...I'm gettin a hoist haha

i thing to remember is those screws are there to keep the rotor perfectly flat against the hub and no extra rust can get behind it... so then u would have any runout if anybody checks that when they machine rotors and or replace them. i've personal never had problems with those little screws before.. so im assuming the rotors never came off the car.. i guess.

These screw are there to hold the rotor on so you put the calipers brackets back on and get all you breaks done. When you put the wheel back on the car it will set flat againt the hub. And rust will get behind them no matter what, anti seaz just helps keep rust from building up behind them.

get a cheap bench grinder and sharpen those drill bits, your be surprised how sharp you can make them and no more throwing away dull bits again.

hahaha, oh I've dealt with those damn screws a few times...lol...but think, next time you have to do something in that area of the car, everything will come off easy (easier)
