I hate canadian tire oil filters!!!

venting time....

I went to change the oil in my hatch today, using a motormaster (or whatever the canadian tire brand is) filter, I get the old oil out, take off the old filter (quacker state) then I go to try the new on but it does seem to thread on, after several attemps, I figure there is a manufacturing defect in the filter and try another I had (same brand) and same problem, I try the old one, goes on no problem...........just makes me mad because now I have to wait till tomorrow till I can drive my car......I have never had this problem with canadian tire stuff (I have used thier brand, and others from there before)........

ya, when I bought them (both filters) I had the parts guy at the desk get them for me, 2 different times, and both filters have the same number (since the page was missing from the book for honda's).......and I compared it to the old one they are identical (to the eye atleast)....

Cynikal.Mindset 08-Aug-2004 08:42 PM

thats why u come to partsource instead...canadian tire is full of half witted counter monkeys

NavidOG 08-Aug-2004 08:43 PM

ive never had a problem with crappy tire filters .... maybe u just had some bad luck... but i always recomend OEM honda filters anyways (but again i dont even use my own advice :P)

better luck next time though

I have never had a problem either (been using them for 2 years, changing the oil every 3 months or so, and a couple cars, and never had a problem).........till now ofcourse....maybe I should start using quaker state or Fram all the time instead....

Hey....I resent that :o

However, I'll never use a crappy tire filter, just don't like them.
BTW, Canadian Tire owns Parts Source.

imported_loudsubz 08-Aug-2004 09:07 PM

haha people will always make fun of the competition

IMO both have half witted employees :D

Cynikal.Mindset 08-Aug-2004 09:24 PM

actually the company that owns crappy tire owns partsource along with marks work warehouse and others...canadian tire does not own partsource

makin fun of competition is fun!

1niceSi 08-Aug-2004 10:49 PM

OEM = no fitment problems.:D

hboy 09-Aug-2004 06:19 AM

Yep, OEM filter (cost not much more tahn the one you bought) and something else than Quacker State

Iluvrick 09-Aug-2004 06:57 PM

Buddah 09-Aug-2004 10:21 PM

I've never had a problem with motomaster filters...but last year I made the switch to oem.

Will they take something back that has been opened?

imported2nv 09-Aug-2004 10:45 PM

oem thats all i have to say.

imported_viper_2_4 09-Aug-2004 11:21 PM

I solved the problem, bought an OEM blue one from the honda dealership......went on no problem, and was only $2 more than canadian tire........looks like its the way I am going to go from now on (since price difference is so small)...

The G2 Racer 10-Aug-2004 01:29 PM

OEM = filters suck. Made by Fram, do not get me started on Fram.

As for stunned people working at CT. I know it all too well working there.

shlammed 10-Aug-2004 02:05 PM

I've never had a problem with a crappy tire filter...i usually get the quaker state ones

imported_Cablerat 10-Aug-2004 02:56 PM

QS3593A!!!!!!!!!!

right? Quaker state?
eheheheh

honda recommended changing OIL every 12,000KM!

So if your changing your oil AND FILTER every 3K on your D15's and D16s, your wasting your money!
