Hybrid Civic Help
I have a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid... In reading the owners manual, it states that the Canadian Model has heated outside mirrors. The American model which I have does not. I have contacted my local dealer to see if the necessary parts could be obtained. No Luck there.
My understanding is that the Civic Hybrid is built in Japan, so I'm thinking that the basic vehicle is the same, including ALL wiring.
If this is true, it should be possible to obtain the parts necessary to install the heated mirrors on my Civic.
Additionally, I am trying to see if the Canadian version has an option for Fog Lights or Driving Lights.
I have tried contacting a Honda dealer in Canada via e-mail but have received no reply.
Can anyone help me in getting answers ??
Thanks

I'm pretty sure the wire harness is different. I know it is different for other models. Can it be done? Nothing is impossible for a price. My question is why? I personally have heated mirrors on my Civic and it is nice, but I could easily live without them. I don't think it is worth the effort to do all that just for something that will be useful a couple of days a year. Just clean off your mirrors a little better before you start to drive. The only real time I use them is if I don't do a good job of clearing off the snow.
About fog lights, like I said, nothing is impossible. I am not sure if Honda Accessories made them for the Hybrid or not.

Mark,
I realize that it may not be a "necessity", but would certainly help especially with all the salt and stuff they put on the roads. I would also be interested in hearing if the "wiring" is already in the vehicle.
As far as the fog lights go, the answer I got from the dealer in the US is that Honda USA was not making them for the Hybrid.... I'm interested in hearding if this is true for the Canadian Honda Company. Although ultimately the same company, if they produce Canadian and American versions of the Hybrid, they might make them for the Canadian Version.
Thanks
Joe

Well, if you are willing to shell out $800-1000 to have heated mirrors, no one is gonna stop you. The wiring is not likely to be there in an american model, since none of them got heated mirrors. A CDN model w/o the option would have been so equipped though w/ the wiring, but no hardware.
The harness would not be hard to get, but again...$1000 for heated mirrors
The Hybrid is a 4door, right? And as such would have the 4dr facia, which it shares with the gas civic, in which case the fog lamps from that vehicle will fit in. $350-400 for the fogs. However, if the front end on the hybrid is different than the 4 door, you will be outta luck.

Hybridpower,
When I wrote the wire harness is different, I meant the wiring IS different.
I am sure you know that your front bumper/fascia is different from the regular Civics and if you said American Honda Motors doesn't offer fogs, Honda Canada Inc won't either.
Honda Accessories makes parts mainly for the Japan Domestic Market (for vehicles available in Japan), American Honda offers some of those accessories and then Honda Canada offers accessories American Honda has. i.e. if American Honda doesn't have it, Honda Canada doesn't (remember these are accessories). So, no Honda Accessories produced fog lights for you. Sorry, you are SOL if you wanted them. Of course you could probably find another aftermarket source.

Thanks everyone.... Your responses have been informative. It appears that I am SOL in terms of what I was looking for. I was hoping that would not be the case, but it seems it is.
Thanks again for the responses.
