Question How safe is PayPal??

Just curious how safe is Paypal? Do any of you guys use it?

I've heard stories of ppl getting jooked...

I'm looking to grab some stuff from the states and have shipped to a family member over there (save being raped by ups) Will be signing up with my bank acct, thats why i'm iffy iffy about it.

heh no credit card, black listed cuz the bastards @ BMO owned me at an early age and gave me a big credit limit.

i have a paypal account and i only use it for ebay purchases... i haven't had any problems with it and find it very convenient... i'm pretty sure it's safe as long as you don't use it excessively to the point where you lose track of what transactions you've done... just keep an eye on your bank account to make sure you never lose any money... i haven't heard any bad stories about people using it... i only use it with my credit card so i dunno how it is with bank accounts, but i'm sure it's very similar...

if you're still unsure about using it then just sent your family members a money order... i think for these, only the person who's name is on the MO can cash it... if you get the MO, get it at the post office instead of the bank b/c it's a couple bucks cheaper for the 'processing' fee... unless you have a friend who works at the bank, then they can get you one for free and if you have to convert your money, they can use their employee rate... hehe

i know what you mean by being raped by ups... they charge you for everything...if you quote the value of the package, make sure it's under $50... some carriers don't charge you duties if it's under that amount... try global express mail (i think that's the name)... i don't think they charged me duties...

btw, what did you buy in the states? did you really save a lot by mailing it to US than canada?
well, hope that helped!

yup my friends use it sometimes too but same story as baby_v--only using credit cards...
give it a try, if you don't like it then close the account... are these stories you hear about it experienced directly by people you know or did they hear it from other people?
MO is probs safer b/c then you have no worries about getting jooked...
are you just paying your family member money for shipping costs?!

Been using Paypal for well over a year now and no problems at all. I use it only for ebay purchases and with my credit card though, but I'm sure that it wouldn't be much different if you had it hooked up to your bank account instead.
