including cost of car around $12 000... plus another $3000 before summers end... then fixing body and paint next spring... then that's pretty much it

Heh. 20k on the car brand new. Then about $1200 on the sound system. $1200 on rims and rubber. $700 on suspension. Oh and $40 on a K&N filter. Thankfully that is all nicely ****** out. But **** I'd like some of that money back. Oh well, I'll have to wait to part out the car. My view on buying parts is that as long as you're putting them in yourself, the fact that you now know how to fix another part of your car means that someday you won't have to pay someone else to do it for you.

too much damn money thats for sure. Car was free for me,
$4000 on the b16 swap
$1600 on suspension and sways
$500 or so to get the new engine runnin mint
$750 on intake,header and exhaust
$950 on cams, dual valve springs & titanium retainers
$400 brand new VAFC2.
$8200 on mods for car holy crap when does it end
beating cars that cost $25,000 priceless
but serously we are what keeps the performance car parts industry alive.

I've spent most my money so far on body work and some getting it running good.

On my old hatch maybe 5500 including the car, plus normal stuff that pops up with cars.
