how to determine if a motor is legit and not a rip off...

I'm looking to buy a b16a2 motor. I need to know how to determine if the motor is legit if it is being sold privately. What can i do to determine if it is legit? Also, how much should i be paying if it is comming out of a 99sir with tranny, mounts, harness, linkages? Any input would be appreciated.

find out why it is comming out of a 00 sir.
where is the 99 sir it came out of
what is the 99 sir now
whats the vin number on the car and motor
is the vin number there on the car and motor
is the ignition assembly intact on the car and motor
is anything else missing on the car and motor (that will hint if its stolen or not even if the ignition assembly is in tact)
who are you buying it from
does he ahve any seller feedback
does the person look shady
does the motor sound to good to be true
is the price to good to be true
etc...

just do a compression test and if thats all fine just get the motor....like really, as long as its in perfect working condition then either way someone is going to buy it for cheap if thats the case.....some motors have scratched out VIN's from japan already for some reason.....so in most cases u'll never know.....or you could just do what team rukus does and bring a survey for the seller to fill out...then be approved for..hehehe

j/k
