How can you tell model?

How can you tell if you have a DX, EX, Si, LX .... Etc Etc Etc....

My car is a 1999 Special Edition but no where does it say DX, LX and so on but when I search Ebay for parts all parts say DX, LX etc...

Any idea where to look to find this out?

Ur car is basically a DX. . . u have a D series non vtec motor D16y7
that should help while searching for parts

cosmetic wise however lots of civic exterior and interior parts are very interchangeable....

but under the hood the main thing is DX...ur car is a DX under the hood and brake wise etc. . . blah blah blah if ur looking for replacement parts
u can also upgrade current parts with higher model civic parts. . too. . .lol

Yes its a D16Y7 motor. But there is a VTEC sticker on both rear windows.. I'm guessing the guy that owned it before me put them on to look special but they are both in the exact same locations on each side and looks like they were put on by Honda...

I looked at pics of other civics under the hood and mine looks slightly different. I'm going to run outside and snap a few pics and will post them here ... Give me 15 minutes please.. Maybe they will help you...

yours is a D16y7

DX and LX engines are the same from 96-00

canadian EX is also the same engine but be careful on ebay...american EX is the canadian SI and the american SI is teh canadian SIR

so you have a DX / LX body and engine use that for reference when shopping on ebay

...jus curious 5 spd or auto ?

good luck

Thanks for the help Joker.. Its an automatic.. I bought it from a Ford Dealer two days ago.. I went in just browsing cars and some guy had just traded this car in that day and when I seen it I loved it so I bought it.. The dealership put all brand new hoses under the hood and brand new air intake system from Honda before I took it.

About the 99 Special Edition,
It is based on a Canadian 'LX' model so, no VTEC...actually no VTEC on any Canadian spec sedans in that generation.
However, the Canadian 'LX' was equivalend to the US 'DX'. The U.S. 'LX' had power windows. So, if you are looking at stuff on e-bay in the U.S., you are looking at a Civic 'DX'. Confused?

Basically, your car is an LX in Canada and DX in the US (with a couple of extra options so, Honda Canada called it and SE....)

urs is just a regular SE.
its got a d16y7 (which all CANADIAN SEDAN EK's have)
You an tell if your car is a 99 or a 00 by the rear emblem.
from 99 the rear SE emblem was spelled out as SPECIAL EDITION and it was a sticker or the 00 it was just SE and it was an actual plastic badge.
ALL parts from any civic can be interchanged.
your car does NOT have ABS, nor Power windows, nor power mirrors.
for the 99 and 00 model there were only 3 different types
LX SE EX
LX was completely basic with no power options, and no A/C, no ABS, no cd player
the SE came with optional CD player, power door locks, A/C, NO TACHOMETER
the ex was the top of the line
which had everything including, power windows, power mirrors, power doorlocks, a/c, abs,TACHOMETER etc...
there was also a G package offered thru honda which was more of a dealer special but those cars are more harder to find and they dont say G on it so u would have to know wat it consisted of.
