For example, the ppl who are the tru JDM OGs, will never call themselves JDM or associate themselves as JDM. I remember when Teamrukus was selling his accord, he didn't try to hype it up by calling it JDM or anything. Instead he said "FS: JDM oriented Accord". Now that is a fair and good way of putting it. You can say you like the style or your aiming for a look like that, but don't tell ppl ur JDM. As a result of all those lies, misformed noobs go around mouthing off and more rumers or lies occur in the Honda community. Therefore the Honda community will always just be viewed as a group of ricers....
Yup, I agree with this guy ^

You are officially not JDM unless your car is imported from Japan. And yeah, you put on a spoon sticker, maybe you can afford a strut bar from a real japanese company, you buy a B18B from Japan, and have the need to call yourself JDM? The term JDM is the ugliest word. It's a term invented originally to tell someone hey, I got a rare part...it's from Japan, so no one here has it...even though I own a honda, I'm now unique. Nowadays, the term JDM has been exploited and everything that resembles or looks like it can resemble something that might be in Japan is labelled JDM so that noobs will come and buy and you can make loads of money off of them.

I agree 110% with the "JDM" thing. I always laugh when people refer to things as "mad JDM" or "that's so JDM" or better yet, the DIY "JDM in a can" amber corner lights we have here lol. People need to start doing their cars like back in the day, how they like it, with what they can resource themselves, not something people ship from Japan and jack the price up, sadly people will still buy it. The one "JDM" influenced thing I really think is dumb, is hacking up a perfectly good fender just to put a stupid marker light on it. Absoluetly hate that......and all these fog lights, I mean come on, who drives in fog, maybe MAYBE once a year? I donno, I'm not a die hard Honda guy, more so a muscle car guy, but Hondas are fun little cars all the same, but people need to start their own trends and do things they like instead of trying to impress a bunch of guys they dont know.

You see, now thats why the Honda scene will never compare to the muscle Car scene. Couldn't have said it better myself. Only thing I disagree with is the foglights. But again my opinion, not trying to force you to change (remember you hafta state its ur opinion n ur not trying to change others, or else the thread will be locked).

I have to agree with the JDM in a can thing. That whole cliched look is only thought of as JDM because the Japanese integra has black housed headlights and amber corners...no other car, even the CTR has that.

Anyways, by the sound of it, you will hate my car. I have fogs though mainly because I live by milton, and yeah I do get fogs and B) they are my day time running lights since I have a retro. Don't wanna kill my bulbs.

what i gather from the article is that the author is somewhat attempting to discover a balance between the far ends of the tuning scene...as he correctly pointed out the three types of car building concepts...race, street and show.

when i look around, most of us has street cars and only a handful of pure race or show cars....yet alot of owners in this middle segment try to be a little bit in all three...lol sometimes its more extreme than other cases. like a gt spoiler on an otherwise stock civic. mostly, it will be the newbies and younger people with relatively new dirving licences, civic as their first vehicle etc.

i also agree that this whole jdm craze is very over rated. at the same time...i must say that its human nature to look and feel different....if u look around, you will notice that everyone wants to have something that most others dont. dressing up a car is not very different but as pimpinel said.....its a term that is used in error very frequently....100 dollar ebay fogs are not jdm fogs..lol

i dont mind or post comments expressing my disapproval or a non-positive opinion cuz at the end of the day....they will learn themselves over time and this is a cycle that will repeat itself over and over again.

Its not juss the wrong terminology. But ppl are stubborn, when you try to tell them how to use proper terminology or why you shouldn't have Advan stickers on a car with Falkens, they get defensive. As a result people call it hate. I guess its juss all testosterone from all the young kids in the Honda community, who are just to stubborn. Remember Muscle car guys are atleast 30 usually...So if they are doing something wrong, they will take criticism properly. Imo, i think this article sucks. If this were a UT essay or article. He would get an F, since its way to opinionated. Hes not gettin to the true source of why all the hate has developed. He is not looking into the fact that its the internet, and that a lot of times, ppl misinterpret words, b/c your not hearing a tone of voice, as a result it is juss easily thrown into the hate category.

^^ so tell them once if you like...and do not go on and on about it. i dont see any reason why someone would get so emotional about all this. no need to play daddy.
