yip yip

The actual Type R badge this time will be from Japan, unlike the previous gen where there was a Accord Type R (Europe) and a Euro-R (Japan)

The front and back ends of the sedan are icky. That taillight treatment is just horrid. I'm not a big fan of the hood on it either. The C-pillars look too chunky and for some reason the wheel wells look too small for the car. I also don't like these drab sides that they're carrying over from the current Accords. There needs to be something to break up the monotony of the flat door panels.

The coupe on the other hand looks quite nice. I agree about the front grille though... looks a bit too Chrysler-like (think Sebring). Again the wheel wells look too small and the door panels need something more.

Both cars need to be lowered!

TYPE R ACCORD

The top Prelude coupe gets this basic engine with 185bhp, but for the Accord Type R , the compression ratio has been raised a tad to 11.0: 1, the internals lightened and balanced, and the ports and valves given some serious flowbench time. Honda were no doubt happy when their dyno sheet read 212 bhp at 7,200rpm and 159 lb ft (215 Nm) of torque at 6,700rpm. That torque figure is deceptive because in fact 140 lb ft (190Nm) is on tap from 2,000rpm. It is enough to blast this 1,405 kg saloon to 60mph in just 7.2 sec and on to 142mph. Throttle response is race car like, and the revs rise and fall instantly.
want more?

IMO, the car nees a better exhaust system!
none the less, sedans are sexy!!

Yeah, they're increasing the size of the engines so that they can more compete with the Nissan Altima and stuff. There's a pic of a black coupe in this month's Car & Driver and a small write-up about the 2003 Accord if you want more.

And more importantly, it's supposed to be in dealerships by the end of the year hence, 2003 Accord! Stating the obvious here...

There was also a brief article in yesterday's Megawheels section of the Globe & Mail.

Those Type-R pics are of the current model. The new Type-R (if they even make one) will likely not be the same (ie. different body style and motor).
