it's cheaper to drop in one of those then it is a -c5 and the $$ you save swapping in one of those instead can be put towards engine mods
B16 is the 160 and B18B is the 140 right? But what I am puzzling is that if you start with say a B18C5 engine, then turbo or mod it, wouldn't that be more efficient then turbo/mod a B16 or a B18B?

Now, that's a badass term, I like it.

I guess there are a still a long way to go before I swap the engine, depending on what I am getting of course.

***note** this is my opinion***
th c5 has a higher compression than any of the other engines... so unless you have a lot of money for tunning ...
it's easier to start with a b18b or a b16a2 and build it up from there

or... if you're a real champ... you can build a ls/vtec for the same amount... and guarentee you'll be putting out more hp and tq then the type r

but hey... it's your car
if you want a c5... who am i to say anything

Actually an even better solution is swapping the bottom end with a B20 which has higher displacement, rod ratios and bore and stroke. It's also bored 3mm larger than the B18 motors which result in more torque

You see, those are very help information which I have no clue of. I am not saying I must have a C5, that was my sorta train of thought which could lead me to the wrong direction. I don't even know what compression means in auto term.

What is it?

If you really want power, why not get b18 and over bore it and put 84 mil. piston's into it. Now more power and torque than a b20.

Welcome to TCC

May I suggest the H22, more torque and horse. Price range is close to $6K, I believe, and Altech is the expert on putting the H22 in a civic.
