Double Clutchin

Well i kinda forgot what this is, and i was wondering if you guys on the board could refresh my memory on this term.

Is it when you are in like 3rd gear, u **** into neutral and then down into 2?

Great found it, just downshifting, letting go of the clutch in neutral, letting the rev match the one that u r gon' downshift into and then you do it. So you would take you foot off the gas when you are in neutral then rite? so that the revs can match out?

it's simple..... a shoift from 3 to 2 here for example

clutch in

start shift from 3 to 2

as you pass through neutral release clutch tap gas press clutch again

finish off going into second

the hand movement is fliud you do not stop in neutral

for cars with sycros yes you don't need to get off the clutch ... but then it's not a DOUBLE clutch

by the very name it implies pressing the clutch twice.

i do it all the time... not that i have to but i learnt to on my old Si tranny with its shotty clutch and i've just kinda kept doing it

if anything it saves your brakes without hurting your syncro's

it sounds like doube clutching is DOWNSHIFTING into a gear without having the kick back of the gear slowing u down..

for example...going from 3 --> 2....u can down shift normally to slow down....u will feel a pull back...but if u double clutch...as u name it...its like hitting the gas making sure u feel no kick back but rather a pull forward while in second gear...

brings your rpm's up, so you dont put as much stress on the motor. Suppost to be good for your clutch too.

i got a lecture a while ago about it.

that's more of a heel and toe type thing you're thinking of

That isn't double clutching...because you aren't pressing the clutch twice. That is just blipping throttle to match RPM's which makes for really smooth downshifting.
