help w/ 2000 siR - theft recovery

Hey guys
I found a 2000 SiR, just what i was looking for
but on the downside, it is a theft recovery
he is claiming that nothing happened to the car, but he replaced the ignition and locks, anyway for me to find out?
honda will not release info unless the car is mine
just wanna make sure the car has not been messed around with

You can check and see if the VIN on the powertrain maches the body.

Would the ownership be branded?

Well if it was taken for a joy ride, they may have driven the **** out of it... Personally I wouldn't unless it's dirt cheap.

good price ... if your prepared for possible surprises !
check the VIN and the engine / tranny serial numbers to verify everything is legit !
maybe compression test too !

hey if you going to buy a theft recovery and if he is claimin that it has no acidents or nothing else was stolen check for vin#
locations :

1. doors on - doors and on chassi
2. fenders - on the edge of motor bay
3. motor - on the block
4. windshield - on the dash
5. rear bumper - open trunk lid look under rubber
6. front bumper - between headlights(might not be place on civis though)
7. trunk lid
8. hood.

make sure it has all oem Honda parts.
also look at the paint look for signs that the car has not been repainted. look carefully around the windows, bumper, headlights etc.

don't let them scam you watch ur self.
you can get its history if you call your insurance company and tell them you are interested in buying a car but you want to know the title on it they will ask you for the vin give it to them and they should be able to tell you if its clear or salvaged.

if you have any questions feel free to email me @ civicsir@loconetworkz.com

I'm kinda curious what MOT book value is for an SiR.

Also I wouldn't buy an US Si/ Cdn SiR. USA Si don't have ABS, heated mirrors, and probably missing a few other toys.

When I was looking for an 99/00 SiR I found a lot of USA Si 99/00 cars. All of them were theft recovery.

how exactly is a 2000 sir for almost 14g's cheap???
u need to check the trader u will see them for like 12 n ****.

make shure that the car is NOT branded.
if its a theft recovery find out if he owned the car before or not? if he didnt own the car previously i highly doubt the car was taken for a joy ride. its an SIR look anywhere and the drivetrain, cluster, centre console and front two seats are always missing.

NOT WORTH IT.

if u want i can get u an sir with those missing for 3 grand. let me kno and yes its a 2000.

TR is correct... almost all SIR recoveries are missing: engine/tranny, ECU, cluster, wheels, seats and sometimes even rear suspension.

can anyone a carfax for me?
the owner told me that he has some sort of paperwork that shows that nothing was done to the car
but i'd still like to run a carfax
1HGEM1157YL801126
the car has been lowered, and he doesnt have stock springs, so i'm thinking that they may have taken the suspension?
i will go to see the car again and do the check that Loco suggested
