sooorry

the funny thing is... I did - b16 no go w/ Si tranny that was the question no?

As I understand, the Si is a junker... w/ a killed body, and the DX is in decent shape, but weak. You wanna swap... right?

If the Si is <$500, then go ahead and buy it to use the interior and brakes.

If it's more than $500, just get the DX, get a ZC or B16, and then source the interior and some 4 dr EX brakes.

What kind of motor are you getting for $500? I doubt it would be a B16 though.

ya i'm not sure what the "question" was either.... if your uncle has connections he may be able to get a b16a1 long block for $500 but you'll need to spend a bit of money on top of that to get it running....

i think you question was if you could take a b16 and put an si tranny on it... like your stock tranny on it.... and that can't be done for the simple reason that the b series and the d series dont like to make

IF you get both cars, swap the better motor into the better body, and swap interiors... leave the other as a winter car.

If you plan on getting a swap anyways, just get the better of the two bodies, in your case B16 w/ DX body.

i have a d16z6 with a 99 dx tranny.... i did this cause i got an amazing deal on the tranny and clutch.... but i would not suggest putting a dx tranny on an si motor it will rev to low at all speeds but it will give you better millage....

isn't the Si tranny "closer ratio" then the dx?? since the dx has the taller gears?? thats what i learned from gran turismo anyways

or are you saying the DX tranny is better?? it is for millage but make the car so much slower.... speaking from first hand knowledge
