Talking Hello CR-Z..Will be available in 2010!!

Just got this e-mail from Honda:

We wanted you to be one of the first to hear: The highly
anticipated Honda CR-Z hybrid concept will go into production
and will be on sale in 2010. Shorthand for "Compact Renaissance Zero,"
the CR-Z is the answer to many people's desire for sporty,
efficient and environmentally conscious transportation. It's all
part of Honda's commitment to help effect positive
environmental change.

Honda CR-Z – Hybrid Concept Car – Official Web Site

So excited!

Hybrid, no thanks. The hybrid version will be iold in Europe and in Japan, but Ive read that Honda has something different in mind for North America becuase of the lack in interest in hybrid cars here. Sure they sell a ton of Prius and Insights in California, but the rest of North America sales are poor. In todays economy, Honda needs a car the will sell. Even a simple R18 would be better then a hybrid.

Just my $0.02

Yes, Hybrids are expensive and useless for highway driving.

I hope they put the K20a or K20a2 in it.

The Prius sell's very well here, not just in Cali. You'd be amazed how many there are on the road.

But compared to the Civic, sales are very poor. Honda needs to sell cars not advanced technology. Insight sales are projected at 5000 sold in Canada this year. More then 50,000 Civics are sold in Canada a year. If Honda put a normal powerplant in the CRZ like an R18 or a K20, they would sell much more then 5000.

Looks are subjective. I think the car's overall shape is decent, but the grill is kinda ugly.

Since the CRZ at the motor show in 2008 was a concept, the production model will look much more like the red CRZ as posted. Much more like a RSX, though a little sexier.

I have no idea if it will be a 2 or 4 seater. Either way, it's going to be nice.

Honda is smart enough to not produce this car as a Hybrid in north America, though they might make it available as an option. As we all know, Hybrids don't sell here. If they were to make this a Hybrid, it would sell just as well as the NSX. Which is why the NSX was canned shortly after the S2000.
