Hard to give up your first car?

I'm currently in the position of having to sell my car because I do not need two cars. Sounds wierd, but it's hard for me to get rid of this car. I've had it since I was 18 and it still runs great, but time to move up from a civic. It's very bittersweet if you ask me. Excitment on the one hand, but I'm a little sad I wont have my civic anymore soon. Hard to even part the thing out. Anyone else ever have the same problem?

I'm not in the same situation Raj, but I've contemplated it. The Civic is my first car, as in, it was no one else's but mine. There is a special attachment there for sure. Getting rid of it would really tough.

Knowing me, I'll find a way to keep it.

I don't want to be paying insurance on two cars so its time to let the civic go. Maybe once the d series motor goes back in it will be easier to hate LOL

I felt the exact same when I had my 94si. I didnt want to get rid of it, stupid reckless driver caused the loss of that car. Then I got the 99si, which then was stolen from me. Since I wasnt attached to it, yet, it wasnt as bad as the first time. Anyhow its about having a car and not getting attached to it.

I think the more you personalize it and make it your own, the harder it is to let go. The next car will stay bone stock and will not need much modding .

I'd think you feel it more Freddy if you didn't see it day in and day out.

my first car (a civic) was totalled... so i didn't have a choice... the second car also a civic, i sold after i got my TSX... when i'm with my new car i don't miss the old one at all... but when i was driving around the old one getting it e-tested and certified and stuff... i was kinda sad ya...

but moving up and on to better things... there are memories with everything that you're attached to... i'll always be attached to my cars, even if they're mostly stock (i don't think i'd ever have a car that's totally TOTALLY bone stock)...

I am still driving my first car and I don't see myself getting rid off it any time soon.

Ya get sad, it lasts for 5 seconds as you see the car go off and you get over it. And it won't be the last time, after getting one car after another, you get use to it

I agree to a certian point, hearing things like that, in my opinion, separates the hobbiests from the enthusiasts.

In the case of my first car.... it's hard when you started out with this..........
(picture approx 1995)

put your work into it, turned it into this......

then finding yourself torn to drive it through the winter, or sell it. well....... I couldnt do either....... so i bought a honda ...this....

Moral of my story, if you've put blood, sweat and gears in it... good luck getting rid of it easily.

oh man, was it ever tough selling my ep in some ways I regret it... in most ways I don't... but ya I had it from brand new, and it was great.. I did get too attached, and even obsessed with it at times... that was part of the reason for selling it...
