When you say "most hondas" don't have hp or torque, you can't compare the lower model civics to the se-r. The se-r is nissans answer to the civic SiR or Type-R and the teg gsr, type r. You can;t compare a civic dx with 130hp to the 175 horse se-r, it's not in the same catagory.

The civic sir's may not have 175 hp, but they are lighter and it is proven (if you do the math) that you will be faster if you make more hp at higher rpms than if you make lot's of low-end torque.

Through torque multiplication, the higher revving, high hp engines actually make more torque at maximum output than a lower revving low end torque motor, EVENTHOUGH the lower revving engine has a higher torque number.

I know it sounds confusing but it makes sense.

I saw it explained before on a website and i'm trying to find it to show you guys what i'm trying to say.

Another thing, you can't rev the se-r to 8200rpms and listen to the beautifull symphony of VTEC everyday and get 36+mpg (which i have recorded on several occasions)

i have to agree with whoever wrote about the se-r, they have more torque, which will allow acclerate faster, hp just keeps ya going, which most hondas lack both :P
Im definately not for the SE-R im sure when we all look at a motor we look at potential.. i do at least. sure it may have some potentioal but the relaiablity isnt there its still a nissan > Im not knocking any nissan owners.. just my opinion

... i never see built se-r motors? or do i just live under a honda rock haha

IMO most civics suck - they are ugly too.

To each their own, right?

true cant get 36+ mpg or hit 8200rpm but the QR25DE in the sentra SER and spec V has a set of secondary butterflys thats is damn loud at around 5g kinda like nissans answer to vtec lol

sick... gsrs have secondary butterflies too... and vtec... kinda like two vtecs... hahaha... sounds way better than any nissan i've ever heard... i normally hear their ****ty engines running loudly when they are sitting beside me at a light... either that or ever nissan owner is always needing a serious oil change when i sit next to them when they are running. well, not really, but vtec is way ****ing better than anything a gay se-r can try to imitate... .

That's the best example of verbal diaherra I've not seen in a long time. You can diagnose they need an oil change, from being beside them at a stop-light? Two of my friends have SE-R's and had ZERO problems with them. The above is the generic honda owner statement. Do you really think Nissan engineers had in mind to imitate honda's 'vtec' sound when designing the motor? Get eduMACated kid...

dito.. nissan engineers designed the motor the way they wanted for the performance they wanted.. not to compare it to the VTEC system. I have a friend with a nissan se-r spec-v and he has had no problems with it. so mike why is the gsr so much better then the se-r? i think the se-r serves the whole purpose of its design.
u had to do a swap to even compare to the se-r so why do u find it funny? i wouldnt laugh at a car that came out of the factory already better then your car.. what u gonna do when some dude with a SE-R with performance parts pull next to u? laugh at him cause its a se-r?

eric you cant compare a SE-R to a DX... when you say "you had to get a swap to make your car faster" Thats like comparing a lambo to a civic.. Compare the Sentra SE to a Si.. then you have some competition your comparing two separte trim levles

You could say yea the GS-r Would compete with the SE-r but guarenteed the gsr would win.. IMO its notalways about numbers sometimes. id win agasint a SE-r is my point haha.. but all im saying is we all have our own taste in vehicles so.. i guess all im saying is were all entitled to it

umm almost all honda engines are high reving, its because the stroke is so short...made for vtec. This isnt some design flaw, the motors are made to be economical until vtec, and increase power output during vtec. Think of a yamaha sport bike vs a harley. The harley has a huge stroke and gobs of torque, and lower redline...the yamaha has the tiny stroke, high reving, low torque.

some people hate it ..some love it...thats how vtec engines are. I just get pissed when people make it sound like the motor has some design flaw and produces no torque when the reality is thats how the thing is supposed to run.

se-r's are alright cars, i wouldnt buy one...f'n bitch on insurance for some reason.

yup yup i know... but why laugh at a car that came factory with enough torque to take a gsr off the line? cars are made for a purpose and the SER serves its purpose.. im not sayin the VTEC system cant win.. but all im sayin is if ur gonna laugh at everyone that thinks their car is better then a honda why dont we all laugh at the VVTI system toyota has in their celicas? all im sayin is that if u have to do a swap in ur car to make it better then some stock car then u have no right to make fun of the car at all... thats my honest opinion.. thats like me doin all this **** to beat a ITR and laughin at it... i had to waste money to beat this car... i shouldnt be sayin anything bout it..and yes i drive a honda.. and? i just cant stand retards who think the vtec owns all... and know nothing else... read up on other makes design on the engine and know that their design isnt about imitating or beatin the vtec but more their own engineering to what they think the car would run best on and how it should be run under their own circumstances.... they designed it that way for a reason.. some like the engineering and some dont.. what can i say?
