This was on the 401, last summer i remeber i was stuck in traffic on the other side on my wa y to work. It was one of the worst accidents ive ever seen, apparently him and another guy were being aggressive and stupid, and one was tailgating the guy infront slammed on his brakes the suv freaked out locked up his wheels spun out and flipped, the driver wasnt wearing a seatbelt got thrown out of the front windshield while it was rolling hit the pavement and died, the 401 was closed for 6 hours.

So for the one guy whos talking about how everyone should drive agressivly, theres no point to be that retarded in and out of traffic. Its ok to drive faster if the road is clear and ur only going to kill your self, but one time itll come bback and bite u in the *** hard.

btw the guy who died was a husband and father... feel bad for the family.

He was charged with criminal negligence casing death. He pled guilty to the lesser and included charge of dangerous driving causing death as well as leaving the scene of an accident causing death.

Today (Monday) he finds out just how long he's going to jail for.

i kinda felt bad and almost admitted you were right until i read the article...

"He said a black Yukon SUV and a burgundy Pontiac Grand Prix were jockeying on northbound James Snow Parkway shortly before the two vehicles entered the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401.

"The vehicles sped east until the car pulled in front of the SUV and slammed on its brakes," Lawson explained."

Before that it said it took place at 5am, which as we all know is just before rush hour starts to build... sounds like they had been fighting previously... and to hit a guardrail and flip 3 times may be just a lil bit faster than 'morning traffic flow'.

I don't know who was initially at fault so i'll rescind my comment about the suv driver being an ignorant ******* but it sounds like they both got what you said they should get. The one guy's dead and the other is facing jailtime because both couldn't just let it go. Neither one will ever drive again.

It's still not that simple.

You have to know the road layout in the area and the traffic behaviour typically found there. What if the "fighting" involved an SUV in the curb lane of James Snow Parkway SUV refusing to let a car in the left lane jump the queue for the on-ramp? Seatbelt use of not aside, is that deserving of death?

With regards to this discussion, NOTHING is deserving of death.

Sometimes there is nothing that you can do to stop someone from being an idiot and endangering everyone else on the road. But what YOU CAN do is control YOUR OWN reactions to the situation and THAT in turn can be the CAUSE OR PREVENTION of something drastic happening.

You can choose to 'strike back' and react in a negative way towards the other person's actions which can fuel a chain reaction that can lead to an accident, injury, or even death. OR you can choose to react positively and do everything you can to avoid negative confrontation. So someone is tailgating you or wouldn't let you into their lane and is driving like an ***...get over it, stay calm and don't retaliate. Human emotion gets the best of us most of the time. I'm guilty of it myself, it happens to all of us. We react in the heat of the moment instead of thinking things through and using common sense.

If everyone would worry about them selves and better control their reactions in such situations, there would be a lot less accidents.

We drive these 2 tonne weapons of steel around all day, everyday and we can't event control our own emotions and reactions...scary stuff...

this is what I do, just enough to scare them, they usually back off. If not, I switch lanes, let the douche bag pass and go back into the lane

Similar situation happened to me last week... was on the QEW coming back from Oakville, was doing 125km in the fast lane, and this complete idiot in a old rusty beemer was coming up behind me quite fast, he ended up right up my ***, even a tap on the breaks from me would have resulted in disaster. I don't understand people and their utter desire to prove something when they drive. Driving at radical speeds, swerving between lanes… what is the point? Really? Anyways, back to the story. He ended up cutting in front of me, nearly clipping my front end. Road rage kicked in at this point… however, clearly his car was faster than mine soooo I took down license plate number, description of car and was about to report it when the douche cut across 3 lanes and got off the highway.

People like that… Need. To. Die.

All you can do in that situation is just get out of their way. That is the best way to handle it.

yep, the left lane is for passing so if you're being tailed don't get pissed, just move over to the next lane so the person can pass you on the "passing lane" end of discussion. Also note this, if someone passes you from your right side that means you are in the WRONG lane. Drive safe and peace out

i lol'd..twice lmao..

but no really.. so many times this has happened to me, what do i do? i find a set of cars travelling at around the same speed, join up with them, and follow their speed so there is absolutely no possible way to pass me... and yep, i tend to release my gas when this happens too, just to tick them off a bit, when a clearing shows, BOOM. i boot it and im gone lol.
