Got A 90 Civic Hatchback..

I should be picking up a 90 civic hatchback today. It has a motor in it and tranny but the motor is done so im planning on throwing in somethign else. Does anyone have an idea on what i should be in. Id like to try and spend less then 800 on the motor if possible. i have plans on putting a turbo on but not till later in time. Also, if i do a swap will i have to change the tranny. All i know is new engine = new ECU

for that price, just get a D16Y8...127ish HP, reliable, bolts in, cheap, parts are everywhere, uses the same transmission, same mounts, etc...

Good, but harder to find, for like 3 more hp, and parts are slightly harder, and they are older...

not a great buy unless you could find one cheap

D series obviously, then if you have any question you can ask the resident d series expert. IE me. I have a boosted D15B.

I'm putting down 162whp on a non-vtec sohc ZC N/A.
$800 bills won't get you much more then a engine and tranny...Try to get a SI tranny wahtever you do.

Si tranny being stamped with a P20/B000 code. Try not to get the CX/VX/DX A000 trannies.
