Good buy?

Looking into a used 1999 SiR

Custom TL White paint
230K Km's
DC Sport exhaust
lowered suspension
SiR rims with rubber
Konig Holes Graphite 17 " rims
TOYO Winter tires mounted on Steel rims
comes with stock hood on (a little dented)
Carbon fiber hood (not mounted with a little peeling on the side)
Around $4000

going to add:
Stock suspension from honda (shocks, springs, mounts) $1320 installed
new B&M Shifter - $100 installed
Full tune up - around $200
repaint rear/front bumper - around $350?? gotta get a quote

total spent on car roughly around $6000

car runs smooth, clutch grabs, timing belt/water pump changed at 170K, only synthetic oil done.

good buy? thoughts would be appreciated

Sounds good to me. Don't be worried about the high kms. As long as it has been maintained properly there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

If the stock suspension from Honda is $1350, you might as well just get an aftermarket set. I got my Buddy clubs for $1400 (courtesy of optionjdm ). You'll be lowered and you'll handle A LOT better on the road. IMO.
the deal is ok too.

Yeah that's the only thing that stood out for me, that's a tonne of coin for factory suspension.

Id pass and look for one that doesnt need anything and hasnt been repainted.
or
Id spend a few more $ and look for a nice Integra GSR or 02+ SIR or RSX.

02+ sir are heavy dude, and the k20a3 sucks. you need some major cash to swap the suspension on the ep3 and get a swap too. genuine integra gsr are hard to find also, and when you do, you might be paying alot more for the name then the car itself.

100lbs heavier then an 99-00 SIR and the K20 has alot more torque then a B16. It wont get stolen like a 99-00 SIR and it would be easier to find an unmodified one. Not as common as an EK SIR either. Every other JDM ricer/fanboy has an EK. They are common as dirt.

The o/p wanted opinions, so Im giving mine.

Take the 6k and instead of spending it on a 10 year old car with 200k, put it down on a brand new Si.

Umm ok. But what about insurance? Not everyone lives in hamilton. I live in toronto, for example, and insurance would be RAPE! he didn't post his age nor where he lives, but im guessing that if he's looking for a $4000 civic, he can't be too old, and on some sort of a budget.

thanks for the input guys..

I actually drive a 2008 Civic Si in TW.. it's leased.. planning to have babies soon.. so i don't want monthly payments.. we are trying to get our financing worked out before the babies, so we don't want to spend more then 7K.. this car only has to last me 4-5 years and my wife will be going back to work.. then i'll hop into a STi or an EVO (whatever it may be in the future)..

i actually purchased it the car mentioned in the OP.. i got it for $3500, and defcon is going to fix it up for me and do the safety..

i;m not spending that much on shocks but i am spending an extra $1500 on other things.. mostly tings like brakes, ball joints, suspension but not from honda..

so in the end i am spending $5500 if u include me buying a new rear bumper and painting it along with a spoiler and the repainting the front.

i know what u guys are saying about this car being # 1 on the list for stolen cars but i knew that before i bought it .. you can;t live life thinking people are gonna screw you over all the time or it'll actually happen.. enough people have had this car without being stolen.. so life is life i can deal with it.. and i know that there are other cars out there but this will be a fun little car to drive for now..

thanks for all the input ; >
