ghetto style

alright, momo shifters and all of them fancy brands are nice, but i was at wal-mart and i seen an all chrome shifter and thats what i wanted so thats what i got my sister to buy me for christmas, so when i open this shifter i notice the dam shifer isn't even threaded, its got some set-screws on the sides and plastic caps that fit over the shifter, then the setscrews pinch the plastic.
at first i was incrdibly angry, expecialy cuz i dont like telling someone their gift needs to be returned, plus when i put it on my shifter it was a foot out of the console cuz it just fit really high up.
so i wasn't impressed, however, i decided to improvise in order to save my sisters feelings, and cuz i still like the look of the cheap shifter, and the plastic cap was bound to slip
i broke out the hack saw, cut it down to shoft shifter size, fit the plastiic cap over, through the shifter on, and i used the setscrew holes as a template for a dril, and i drilled right through into the shifter then put the setscrews through into the shifter, the result, i had a short shifter
i had the shiftet **** that i wanted(although cheap, who cares)
and i found away around the gay plastic cap, so the **** is fit solidly onto the shifter,
HOOWA! cheapest mini upgrade ever
good ol hacksaw

almost all aftermarket shifters use set screws...yes, even MOMO!!!

now that u cut your stock shifter u ruined the geometry of the shifting system and not compensating for it with a longer shifter part under the car...now shifts wont be as smooth or clean....but if your happy good goin, just take it easy shifting now cuz ur more likely to mash up ur synchros

i would be very very careful with that shifter... i had a cheap one and cut it down and it snapped right above the ball.... and that was probably the worst break down i've ever had cause the car ran fine you just couldn't get into any gears.... so if you want to avoid that make sure you put as little pressure on the shifter itself... and if your clutch and/or synchro's are getting old i'd suggest taking it out cause you'll end up with a big mess on your hands

haha ghetto

i had a cut stock shifter one, i wanted a threaded shift **** but it woulndt work so i had to use one of those cheap set screw *****, i hated it they felt like garbage, so i bought a new stock shifter with threads and found a shift **** that was threaded and im so much happier

ps. you dont have a short shifter, you have a shortened heigh stock shifter lol theres no advantages other than a weird shifting height now

yah i tryed one of theose screw type setups... I brought it back, got a new one, didnt like it eaither...it kept coming loose on me, and it felt super weird... So I went to honda and bought a threaded solo shift ****, the weight of it is so perfect, its solid, I love the feel in my hand (like a nice firm titty ) Its the exact same **** they put on the S2000 a few years back... oh and it only cost me 30 bones too!!!

even momo makes the plastic cap/alan screw setups... its super cheese...

cars like Subaru WRX and my Saturn use set screw or clip in types from the factory... no threaded ones. Go figure

We test drove a BWM when my buddy was looking to buy a car... and we were bangin gears, and in 1-2 shift, the shift **** came straight off the shifter. LOL German quality alright!! Bahahaha

german auto manufacturers all got started from the slave labour of the jews during the holocaust.... and guess who's the only company not to compensate the jews they used in slave like conditions during that time? BMW

i guess....but personaly, its easier to shift, it shifts smoother and better then ever, and it has the look of a shoft shifter (obviously not the same as a real short shifter)

freakin bmw just sticks their ***** on some how...it happened to me aswell drivin my dads...went to pop it into 2nd quick like and shifter ended up in my hand!

and I have never had problems with the screw type ones other than the occasional stripping of the allen head...but as long as the set screw was pointy at the tip they stay pretty good
