getting rid of the el for 2003 sir?

found a nice sir with the oem body kit and 17" hfp rims.
its ebony black with around 87,000km on it.
its a lease return at honda. previous owner was 51 male so i doubt beat on it.

i know it has a stock k20a3 which is decent.
what issues does this car have?
asking price is bit high though
$15,200

In europe they seemed to really like that body (in Type R form)...

for some reason it wasn't to popular here...

weak motor and suspension were on the forefront of complaints....imo..that car never deserved the SIR badge but to each its own. you will find it a bit smaller moving from an EL and dont expect a hugh power gain since the motor doesnt have lot of torque.

when i say weak motor...im arguably comparing it with the type-r, s and si couterparts.

looks are subjective...people's opinion on them are useless..

the motor was the same as the RSX base, CSX, etc...it moves fine, but isn't the quickest motor around (or even in that series or motors)...I wouldn't call it super slow...definitely more torque then a B16

it weighted about a 144lbs more then the EK style Civic it replaced...not that much heavier, but noticeable...

Change the suspension and swap in a proper k20 and it's a pretty good car. Otherwise, stock....meh. Don't think I'd buy one. But it's up to you.

As long as you like it, that's what you should buy.

I liked SiR_YO's SiR but, he had a lot of mods done to it....and I mean a lot. I definitely has a lot of potential but, you're right, the price tag seems a little high. Message SiR_YO and ask him. He also works for a Honda dealership so he might be able to help you in that area if you're looking for a car new or used. Here's a picture of what it looked like...

ye i test drove, it had decent mid range.
suspension felt too soft for an sir.
i went to jacksonracing and they got a supercharger kit for the a3 that would push the hp to almost 170 or so at the wheels.

How much would the kit cost, so you can gain an extra 30 hp?

Ed's car was a think of beauty. Cleanest of the lot. There are some that had maybe more stuff done to it, but Ed's had style. I miss that car!

Totally. I too miss that car, I'm sure Ed misses it as well.

If you like the car go for it. Its still a Honda after all.

I would try and find a 2002 SiR with the wings west package instead. IMO It looks better than the honda rip off GFX package offered in 2003.

How true is the 51 year old story?
