General cost for snows?

Im gonna need some snows either way for this winter. I was debating on getting some snows from CT, Walmart, or costco, that sorta deal, vs buying a set of used snows for 1 season.

I have never looked for tires, let alone snows in general, so I have no idea what price I should pay for new ones that are decent.

Am I looking at around $400 (100 per tire) as a general for snow tires?

thanks.

Matt.. give me the size you need..

I can get them at cost, all u need is to pay tax on them. I told u my coworkers dad owns 2 firestone/bridgestone stores right?

I got some Blizzak WS-50 tires for cheap.

nordic icetracs from ct or dunlop graspics from walmart would be more then enough

each would run you around $450 installed and balanced for a 15"

Blizzaks for my car which are 185/65/r14 run $118 for tires alone

The graspics are a little better then the icetracs because they have a much softer compound (you can tell just by touching each tire) but i would assume they wouldn't last as long that way.

one tire that people overlook is the goodyear eagle ultragrip 3.

if you go to all the tire survey websites like tirerack or 1010tires they are rated right up there with michelin alpins and blizzaks. they are also rated as best bang for the buck in consumers report magazine.

they are also alot cheaper than the alpins and blizzaks and i believe there is a rebate on them now if you buy four.

I paid $233 inst/tax for my 4 14's at Walmart last year. I've priced out some higher quality tires for the wife's car and most of them are $125+/- each for 15's.

I've picked up this tire...paid approx. $85 per tire (185/60/14) regular $125ea - they were on sale around Nov. 5th if I remember correctly. Bought them locally at Beech Tire in Hamilton.

Out the door it came to like $450...So far I like them. I went to the Goodyear brand cause I wanted to try something different this winter.

So far I like them, highway use -> the noise level is pretty reasonable for a winter tire. Dry traction is good, and wet is better....just waiting for the snow to fall to see how they do.

Heading up to Barrie this weekend, hopefully they get like a foot of snow!

I've always paid about $130/tire after all was said and done, @ 195/55/15. I had a set of Pirelli 210 Snowsport and Toyo Garit HT+ .. IMHO, you get what you pay for.
