G Road Test

I have to take my G test tomorrow morning.

I have a problem:

The vehicle I am going to take the test with has Quebec licence plates. (It's my mom's business van).
My car has no insurance so I'm not even going to try taking the test with mine.

So, do you think the mto officers will have a problem with this Quebec vehicle?

prolly not unless its a typical quebec falling apart vehicle...as long as its all legit and upto par there should be no problem

It's a '02 Chevy Venture. I think it's a safe vehicle. I know they check the lights before the test, it all works. I'm just worried that they won't let a Quebec vehicle take an Ontario driver test.
If they don't let me use this van I'm screwed. Unless I can find a buddy who'll lend me their car. Ah well. I'll learn from this experience.

Do you think they have "just in case" vehicles in their lot?

please! what issues would they have??? you could bring any car you want so long as it's road worthy. they might be curious about the quebec plates but if you give them the same reason you've told us they ain't going to care.

Hahahahaha I PASSED !

Anyway, about the Quebec plates...

They DID have a problem with it. They said they normally don't ask people for the vehicle insurance or ownership, but they asked me because of my plates.

Since my mom's Quebec driver's licence is still being worked on, she has only the quebec insurance card and the old Ontario green ownership thing.

They had quite a problem when I said, "my mom doesn't have the Quebec ownership yet. It's going to be mailed soon."

He asked me like 10 times, "Why don't you have Ontario plates?"

I said, "This is a Quebec vehicle... it has Quebec plates..."
I answered him that same way all the times he asked me.

Then he's like, "But on this ONTARIO OWNERSHIP, it shows an ONTARIO LICENSE PLATE NUMBER"

Then I said, "I THINK I KNOW THAT. BUT I STILL HAVE QUEBEC PLATES BECAUSE THIS IS A QUEBEC REGISTERED/TRANSFERED VEHICLE NOW"

He askes me again, "Where are your ONTARIO PLATES".

I said, "You know what, if you really have a problem... take it to the cops. They pulled over my mom and they had no problems. They just run the plates and it's a legal vehicle with legal insurance."

The guy was like having a fit with me... omg i thought he was going to fail me! Then he says, "hold on let me bring my supervisor".

So the supervisor comes out and says, "Even though you don't have proper vehicle papers, I guess we don't really have a right to ask for your ownership, we usually never ask for it, but in this case I'll let you go since you have your insurance card. So go ahead and take the test."

Whew.
And what a crappy day to have a test. I was basically going 30 the whole time LOL. He was an ******* and took me to the residental streets to make me parallel park, 3point turn... most of the people I know told me that they just try to mark the highway part. I got 28 errors with this *******. Ahh well... a "C" is a "P".

When I took my G test back in 1994 I had to do parallel parking, 3 point turns, enter/exit the highway, etc.

What were your 'errors'?

The snowy day was an advantage I guess.
But the most errors were "not looking left and right at all intersections" some other errors were "not meeting the speed limit on the merge lane of the highway".. which is bull**** because everyone was going 60km/h :P

But I think this G test was easier than my G2.

Now I just need to talk to my insurance broker tomorrow for some insurance on my car haha.

when I said they wouldn't have a problem with it I was assuming you had all the papers in order just in case they asked.

28 errors??? and you passed???

Christ I had 1 error and I thought I was going to fail... I take issue with the way we do licensing tests if thats still considered a pass

They were all minor errors.
I heard that as long as you drive good without having the instructor feel like he's gonna die, then you can pass.

I also see that there were alot of blind spot errors. I know i made myself very obvious looking at the blindspot... but I hated how the guy looks at the blindspot at the same time that I look at it... so then he doesn't see me looking at the blindspot (passenger side always).

There were a few "not look at hazard" errors... I have no idea what that means.

And some bull**** errors like "wrong lane".. even after I asked him from the beginning "Since there's a ton of snow on the road, I can't see the lanes. So can I just follow the main tire tracks?" And he said, "Yes, do what is safe." What a liar :P
