Front plate position

OK.

Is it legal to put your front plate in your wind shield or not?

And what are the rules for positioning your front plate?

Can it be tucked into the front air-dam opening a little or will I get a ticket? What if I put a small light under there to light it up at night to make it visible?

Any help would be great.

Thanks:thumbup:

It all depends on if it is properly displayed so that others may view it without spending more time looking for it than reading the sequence of #'s and or letters.

The windshield is perfectly legal as far as I know.

A cop could give you a ticket for failing to properly display your front plate put if it is easy for them to find and just as easy to read then it would fall thru in court.

has to be on car not inside

Ok I think its time to blow this myth out of the water.

Having the plate displayed on your dash is illegal

You might not get a ticket the first or the second time but eventually you will. The plate has to be mounted on the front of the vehicle. It dosen't have to be centered and can be offset to the side.

If you do put it in the opening of your body kit, make sure it is infront of the mesh or else you will get a ticket for obstruct of plate

ADOcivic 20-Jun-2007 03:45 AM

The highway traffic act states that the licence plate must be on the front most part of the vehicle.

Considering the Temp trip 10-day permit is displayed in the front window. I don't see why its illegal to have your normal plate displayed there.

Somewhat of a double standard IMO.

O wait now i get it. (heres your sig sandal foot)

The piece of paper that my temp permit is printed on contains highly luminous inks and can be seen from great distances and through factory sun visor tints, as where my normal plates aren't designed to do any of that, god willing they made this plate B.S. illegal for some reason other than to harass ppl

No, its because its paper and would get ruined outside of the car..

if you want to change laws, get elected.

I dont recall saying I wanted to change any laws. How about you take care of that bit for us since it was your idea. Thanks.

Well..temp licence = a piece of paper
Licene plate = metal

I think its safety hazard if u live it inside the car. I think the edges are rather sharp especially if it comes right into you during a crash.

Gallagher 21-Jun-2007 04:31 PM

Yeah when i got pulled over and got one of my numerous tickets for no front plate the cop told me that it is illegal to have it in the front windshield because if I ever got into an accident it could decapitate my passenger.

At the time he pulled me over he said something along the lines of "If you ever got into an accident, that license plate could take the head off the pretty lady you have in the passenger seat there".

I was hoping she was going to flash some skin and get my off the line for the ticket, but that didn't happen.

BOO!

Can this get any dumber??? Just mount the damn thing where its suppose to go, the aerodynamics of your car will not be that significantly affected. I would hope that most of you have more money and better idea's then moving the front plate to make your car look better. If you rather have it on your dash then just do it and be ready for the consequences if any. If you get pulled, tell them one of the bolts fell off and you had to put it in the dash so you wouldn't lose it. Be creative man, its not that difficult.
