Formula 1
To F1 fans: Why is the outcome with Schumacher/Barrachello/Ferrari so predictable?
Is it car, driver, manufacturer's funding, design acumen, or, a combination of all? Thanks... |
dunno i thinks it's a conspiracy or mob related:)

Guarantee, you're a Nascar fan:p
A 'good ol' boy' from Brampton:nods: How was the wedding? |
with no spending cap in F1, ferrari spends about 3 times the amount that BMW spends on it's team.....and about 30 times more than some of the smaller teams......
btw: ferrari sucks, BMW 4 LIFE! |
Finally, a sane post. Thanks, Jon...

Shumacher is a very good driver, but it is all car and money. The only time his skill really comes out is in the rain. There is no way he is a better driver than Senna or Prost but he has the record because Ferrari spends sooooo much money and tells his teamate to move over.
I stopped watching F1 because it is a race for third every race, and because Honda sucks right now and BMW just can't catch the Stallions. |
F1 is far too packed with politics. And with Cart and IRL all spit up, open wheel racing's taking a big hit. :(
|
I bet BMW could catch the stallions actually.. it's more like what echien said.. it's politics...
I bet it's under the table deals. I'm willing to place money down that some street BMW (namely.. any BMW with an M powered engine), or the McLaren F1 (that's powered by BMW's M Powered engine producing 612 ponies!)could easily compete and beat a Ferrari. How many Ferraris do you know pump out 612 ponies stock? I can't think of a single one. And that McLaren F1 has torque too.. not just HP (like the hondas).. Honda's motto: "It's All About The Horsepower baby!" I dunno much about the engineering about F1 engines but I presume they are reflected in the cars on the road. Honda engines generally have lower torque than BMWs and Ferraris. lol. Come to think of it.. I'm surprised that Honda didn't make their F1 racer a front wheel drive!!! HAHAHA! BMW makes a great engine and so does Ferrari but on the road.. BMW rules them all. I would assume that if BMW could produce an awesome street engine.. their outstanding (term used very strictly) engineering would be reflected on the track. Consider Honda's motto I read in the brochures they have on their cars. "Honda engines are inspired by Honda's Racing Heritage" or something on those lines. So I would imagine ALL car companies that have an F1 car reflect it on the street and vice versa. Feedback? |
Actually for a company like Honda very little trickles down to their production cars. And the BMW's were producing more power than the Ferraris and still couldn't win, there is alot of other technology that goes into these cars than just horsepower.
These cars have nothing to do with their street counterparts, comparing an F! or F50 or any M class car to its F1 car is pointless. Sorry Kent hit the wrong button, didn't edit your post. |
Yeah I agree, it's more than just HP. Hp is set but a lot has to do with aerodynamics, pit strategy, crew.
If you've got a bazillion guys doing little work and getting losts of sleep they'll always beat 20 guys trying to do everything with no sleep. The thing i like about Honda is the fact that they rotate the design engineers through race and production. Gives them that competitive edge to them when designing. Others might do that as well, but the fact that Honda advertises it and expiolts it tells me that they have their marketing act together and I like supporting companies that have it together. |
Let me add something to my post... lol
It doesn't matter how much horsepower or torque your car has... if you can't drive.. than blah! More power to those who can drive! |
