fixing Odometre...shops in Toronto...

my cluster was burned due to some faulty wiring on my part behind my deck...so I need to get a new odometre...

I have a 2001 civic si, the odometre is a digital readout...to my knowledge the KM's are stored on the cluster itself and in the ECU...

my question is, does anybody know of any shops that that can flash the odometre to read what the ECU has in its memory, so that my new (used) cluster can read my actual KM's

thanx

well firstly the cluster is what holds the info for the milage not the ECU so therefor go to honda with yoru new cluster and have it reprogrammmed to your old milage from what you can remember!

new vehicles hold information on both the odometer and ecu for accurate readout of the milage. so companies cant be frauded for warranty services thru tampered clusters.

it should be available at all honda shops.

BUT they might not do it. what they might do is just get the actual milage reading of your vehicle and stamp it on your door jamb and then your new odometer will be still at 0000000. then whatever your amount is on the new odometer all you do is add it to the stamp thats on the door jam. this might occur since its illgal to remilage vehicles under any circumstanceas.

just called honda (dalts honda)...they said they dont provide this service, and nobody else does...

as for legalities...I dont understand where the problem would be with you wanting to set your new cluster or new (used) cluster to the proper KM's...

its pretty fukin' stupid
