final numbers

ok guys , after driving for 1 straigh week on a gas saving plan i actually have some amazing number to shared

gas liters- 28
kms- 470
conditions
85 % city , 15 % highway
city driving was at rush hour
location - mississauga , from square one to airport (830 am , get out at 530 pm)

That would be around 17 kms per liter

Few things i ve done

Shifting early ( at 2000 rmp)
neutral
I actually shutted off my car when i had to way for a very long red light at rush hour ( only done it like 5 times but i m sure i prob got a few kms more because of that)

I probably shifted after 4000 rpms 5 times during the whole week

It kind of sucks to be driving like a grandma , however I just wanted to see how much gas it is possible to get out of my honda

model
2000 honda civic se , 1.6 liters , manual

I m actually very happy with the results , my mazda 3 gt is getting 11 kms per liter , although i haven't actually test it like the civic.

I should prob get around 700 on a tank if my calculations are correct

Anyone getting mor than that on mostly city?

I get about 500 km's out of my tank, and thats babying it. If i give it to like 4000 rpm's. i'm lucky to get 400. Damn i hate boost some times, lol. The gas take in a 2000 honda civic se is not 28 L it's around 45/50 L.

so far have 150km on and only used 1/4 of a tank.. seems to be working.

I have gotten over 500 on my last fill up. I will be at close to 550 when I finally fill it up Monday morning. That was mostly back roads and local driving.

I've gotten 650-700kms per tank many times with my 00 SiR.

Just have to drive nicely. Plus setting the cruise at no more than 120 on the highway helps too.

I changed my habits and even with my exhaust pretty much open down pipe at the exhaust manifold, non functioning o2 sensor and a short *** geared tranny I get upwards of 560km per tank now

shift before 3k
dont go over 110kmh
slightly over inflated tires
no banging vtec

the shifting before 3k is damn hard to do on a B17a with ys1 and people behind me must hate me haha

I get 500-515 out of a tank of gas. Shifts are around 3.5-4 K. Cruise is around 120 on the highway.

Max I've gotten is 760km on the 03 civic lx. Drove all highways and like a granny :P As for the 2000 Si, I get 500-550km/tank at best.

I have a 92 auto 4 door.
And with 87 octane I get around 500kms.
With 94 octane I can get around 650kms. (maybe a few more if I push it)

I do ok...

My '88 EF Sedan gets beatten like a mule, shifts around 4-5000rpm (no tach... lol), 130-140km/h across the highway (100km a day just for work), and I still average 515km per tank.

Not too shabby.

I tried something like this myself and only got an extra 30-40km out of my tank

98 civic hatch getting between 500-540km/tank

not worth the granny driving to me. All shifting was done below 3000rpm and highway speeds were kept under 120km/hr at all times.

I am getting pretty much 10km/liter, sometimes 11, but rarely. I haven't done granny shifting all that much. I will try to gut the car more and lose more weight, see if it helps.

i agree with you guys , it kind of sucks , but when you are on a budget you have not choice. I try to do the granny driving from mond-fri (going to work) and leave the fun for the weekends.

I may add that before i used to get 500-550 a tank , now its almost 650-700, so it is a 100km difference which is pretty much 2 1/2 days of driving to work

I am shifting early now and always stay in the right lane haha. I will see how much I can get with this driving style.

i've got a buddy who gets 650kms to a tank pretty regularly on his boosted EL, he's even called me up before telling me how he's got 750km's to a tank.

Other boosted cars i've done are still in the 600kms a tank range. So having a boosted car doesn't waste more gas, unless it hasn't been tuned PROPERLY. In fact, i've actually seen better gas mileage since i've boosted my car, turbo's equal efficiency, higher efficiency equals better gas mileage. Just don't kick the crap out of it non-stop. I get better mileage with my car boosted, even with me beatin on it a fair amount.

I'm interested in trying this shifting below 3k staying under 120kms/hr on the highway thing and seeing how much i get to a tank....i'll keep you guys posted. Looks like i'll be cruising around town in 5th gear from now on.
