Well DOHC VTEC hmm

B16a
B16a2
B16a3

B18C
b18C1
B18C5
B18C7

Then there's the K series.

Also you could go the hybrid route with LS/vtec or CRVtec.

Mine blew up. B17 is a good motor good luck finding one.
Id recommend b20/vtec, no replacment for displacment and with a little car like your youll rip em a new ******* off the line.

b18c1 or b16a1 is your friend... the b16a1 will be easier as it is obd0, but for the b18c1, its obd1 or obd2... so you need some hareness conversion...

any engine in an EF can be a good choice.... great lil car... if you're gonna swap, might as well go for a bit more of displacement =)

God everyone always wants the biggest freakin dohc vtec motor they can afford. Listen I have just a straight LS motor in my 1991 hatch and it really boogies. It also ran a 15.5 at cayuga with terrible all season tires and it was running really bad that day to.

hahaha, an H22 in an ef... that would be soo quick... well, assuming you got the b-series adapter plate and bolted an itr tranny on it.

I think before you ask what can go in, you should really do some research. There are lots of thread and links in the performance forum that can help you out. Then find out what kind of performance you want from your engine. I am sure there is a reason why you want DOHC over SOHC.

First gen b16. Don't mess with everything else, this is straight and simple swap.

haha, for a motor with that much torque, i don't thinku need an itr tranny... maybe a gsr would be good enough to keep you happy on the highway as well =)

or i would say built a turbo h22 with h2b adapter on an LS tranny... u'll be having mad torque and hp! hahaha... but i dunno how u can hold your lil ef to the ground, its probably gonna fly off a cliff or something

get a 1st gen B16...cheap, easy to come by, easy to get parts for...and it moves pretty damn good, plenty of potential later on too. You now have b-series everything if you want to upgrade to a 1.8, you have a great head for frankenstein motors..

you cant possibly go wrong with a b16

1st gen b16a like i mention above, i repeat! haha
if you want more torque later, its not hard to pick up an LS block and its cheap...

b16 has a nice tranny for short gearing to pull your sweet lil car off the line...

and nowadays, you can shop up a 1st b16a for 1500 or less... you can have extra cash to get full i/h/e to prep up for future internal... unless u plan to go FI, then ignore the header and exhaust since you might wanna go 3" haha..
