Engine Costs for swap
 

Me and a friend thinking of doing a swap for his project car, is it possible I can have an approximate on the total cost by listing your swap cost here.

I really need to know several things.
1) how much does your JDm or ZC or whatever Engine cost, what's the type of the engine... and what comes with it.

2) how much is the labor?

3) how long does it take.

4) Do you believee those engine only had very low millage when they were in japan or previous owner's car?

5) Any further pains after swap.

just give me some sort of answers. Thanks so much for any input.

You can find the motor alone for around $600 with tranny. $100 for integra ecu and around $80 for used integra driveshafts =$780. You might wan't to do the timing, fuel pump, etc a tune up is deperately needed, should cost around $200 for parts.
Labour=$500 for swap and around $200 for timing, etc.
Supposely the Japanese laws conform that they have to pull out there motors at 50k and it's illegal to have over 50k on the motor and supposely it sits for a decade and sell to people like us. Not sure if this is 100% true but that's what i have been told in my research and the Japanese dudes that sell JDM motors also told me the same info. If the guys a lazy ass the swap will last over a week, if he's good and know's what he's doing a couple of days in and out.
There it is around $1600 for a good swap. If you look around you can find a few hackers that will do a half decent job for around $1200-$1400 complete swap.

Or dpending on how mechanical you are, you can do it yourself. I have done ZC's, and stock swaps (which in essence a ZC is) in a day. It's a dead easy swap, and if there ever was a time to learn about your car, a ZC swap would be it. It's almost the same as a single swap, with the exception of changing two wires around. And if it's a DX, and you don't REALLY know wiring, you'd probably be best to leave it to the pro's, as the DPFI to MPFI conversion can be a bit of a bummer for newbie's.
