EG Hatch Question(s)..

Hey guys,

I didn't know which specific tech forum this belonged in, so I put it here.

I want to know what the differences are between the different trims of the EG Hatch (92-95).. I know there's the Si (92-93), Dx (maybe), Cx, and Vx.

I want to know all the major differences are i.e. engine (power and specs, VTEC), luxury options (AC, Power Everything, Sun Roof), Brakes (4 Wheel, ABS), and anything else worth mentioning.

Is there a site that lists all the differences and advantages between the trims?

Thanks,
Shokker

CX is lightest No power steering...

VX is pre wired for DOHC VTEC SWAP...

Si has sunroof and 4 wheel discs...

I had a faq before but can't find it...

I know Sam(JookSingKid) has a chart or something....

Mostly engine specs and weights...

Doesn't talk to much about options...

VX is pre-wired for VTEC cuz it is VTEC, only on the exhaust though, fuelsaver, translation=slower. OK if you're gonna swap motors, too slow otherwise. Si is the only one with 125 hp VTEC (and roof and rear discs) nice if you can still find a good one, they're all like 10 yrs old now.

Anyone who is thinking about doing or is doing an EG hatch should read this article.

It comes from Sport Compact Car Progect Honda Civic EG

Part I: Introduction

Part II: Finding our car, baseline testing and plans

Part III: Body and Aerodynamic Enhancement

Part IV: Suspension and Brakes

Part V: Engine Swap

Part VI: Engine Management

And I think you mean this?

Yeah, but they buy everything new, and they buy funky stuff too like the Carbon Fibre hood, and everything they put down is MSRP.

Whens the last time you bought something for your car MSRP?

True True...

Personally I like the Fiber Images C/F hood...

It is the only on I know that the fiberglass skeleton doesn't separate from the hood...

Cause there isn't one...

The Benen one is so so...

I avoid MSRP like the plague...

Pays to be an educated buyer...

Isn't that why we are all on this board anyway...

Correction, VX Hatchbacks are lighter than CX. It's not posted in their specs because it's an identical car, difference is in the wheels, 9lbs against ~18lbs in each corner. If you want to dig up the roots and learn everything about 92-95 hatchbacks and all that there is to them I suggest you read this HUGE thread on this topic on honda-tech.com

If you have any specific questions, e-mail me as i hardly check this board.

Take a good look at everything and read throughly.

Benen hoods are so so? Really? I thought they made nothing but quality **** Anyhow, ordering from Benen would require that you wait like 50million years before you get anything LOL ..well not 50million but a seriously LONG *** time But no doubt they produce quality goods.

CF hoods? How bout Spoon hoods? LOL

That would be correct, the VX's are the lightest.

Same car different harness and motor....

I think Shokker wants a streetable daily driver and would change the rims anyway....

Nice thread BTW...

Yeah, I'm personally liking the look of the Si for now. The sun roof and all the power features + AC sound pretty good.. Not to mention a decent engine stock that will suffice until a swap..

Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on an Si in good condition after I sell my Sedan.

Thanks for all the info guys (Sam, Aaron, Duy, Jon, 1.8 HB).. I'll ask more as I get closer to possibly purchasing a new car..

Just remember Asim, look for original paint with excellent body. That's the most important thing! Preferrably one that has been oil sprayed yearly! Hard to find, but I wish you the best of luck!

Thanks, Jamie!

I've got an initial couple of questions for you all..

1) How come I'm reading a lot of people say they got 94-95 Hatch Si's on all those other boards? I thought they were only available in 92-93?

2) Does the EG Si Hatch come with an arm rest?

3) Does the EG Si Hatch have a power sunroof or is it a manual one?

Thanks in advance!

Si Hatch with 4 wheel disk brakes was only available in 92 , 93.
Si only available as a coupe afterwards.

Si hatch does not come with an arm rest as far as I know, but you have the option of swapping in different arms rest which are direct bolt ins, anywhere from the JDM long armrest, to the arm rest that is found in the EG sedans or the Integra arm rest.

Power sunroof, but its heavy.
