Easy to steal cars?

Hey, check out what car thieves are doing these days as it looks as easy as stealing candy from a baby. This happened in the morning on peoples driveway.

http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_19301.aspx

These guys with the guns whether they are fake or not can steal hundreds of cars this way. There is no stopping somebody with guns. Forget trying to break into a car in the parking lot, this is extreme and effective I might say. Remember the other day some dude shot a man or rather a teen in the head and stole his Audi A6. Luckily for the guy he survived. Why the hell did he have to get shot when the thief got the car already.

This world is becoming more brutal as time goes by and there is no stopping these criminals. Even giving someone the keys to your car doesn't guarantee safety. What would any of you do and are any of you sort of equipped with a legal self defense 'weapon' in your car? I doubt it would be of use anyhow as a gun supersedes all.

PS. Oh yeah, just want to add that I may have been followed by a car while driving into a parking lot one time. I cannot say anymore of this as I am afraid of endangering myself as someone may be on this board.

Using anything except weapons for self defense is legal. We as citizen have that right. Would the police rather find us dead or the bad guy beaten up.

I'd fight to the death, my car is worth dying over in my eyes. All the time, work, effort and money put into it? I'd die for it. I've gone to jail twice over it so far. Trying not to but as I said.....

That's crazy man. Gotta admit you are loyal to your machine. I wouldn't want to hand over my keys either but in a do or die situation, I'll keep my life please.

I have the bottom half of a cue stick (used for playing pool) as my choice of item for defence. It's easy to hold and light. I have been thinking of getting an AirSoft gun these days with all the violence going on. Wonder if we can carry those around in our jackets and would the police understand that it's used for protection.

Is keeping a "weapon" in car really that useful? When the bad guy(s) already have you in point blank position when you are getting your car, you are nowhere near getting your "weapon" no matter what/where it is.

I know what you mean gamer. I didn't mean to imply that it would be useful in this kind situation. Just a thought of having something is better than nothing and especially in other situations where guns are not involved.

One thing to keep in mind is to look around you first before going to your car and be mindful of suspicious person(s).

An airsoft gun is not going to do much and if the police found you carrying it "for protection" I don't think they would be very sympathetic.

Those kind of people don't deserve to be touched by my expensive snooker cue lol, I'll just use the snow shovel stick.

Theses guys are proubly grew up in the bad part of town or just think its fun. Me myself if it was legal I would have a gun already to shoot at them myself. I know of buddies that carry baseball bats. The big slugger ones that are not wood those things hurt.

how old are you man??

why would anyone say a car is worth dying over. if someone pointed at gun at my head i ll give him my car , i would not fight back. My insurance would cover it and i ll have my life

the only thing worth dying for it is another person you really love and care about

if you fight , you are most likely to loose against a gun , so they will get your car plus you will get injured and the injury could be life threating injury if you are not lucky , or you could die. I rather loose my car and keep my life

If someone were to come up with a gun pointed at me, the car is theirs. That's why I have insurance, I don't see myself getting hurt especially getting shot over a car, even though I baby the crap out of it. But stealing cars like that is pointless, obviously the owner can describe what the person looks like to the police. On top of that, I doubt that those type of car jackings are people stealing cars to strip them, they would probably use them for another crime or robbery. I carry "The Club" in my car, and it seems like it can do some serious damage to a would be theif.

I'm guessing that the reason they shot that guy in the head if they already had his car is simply, no witneses.
