Eagle Japan Motor...no good

Yea so, I'm posting this just to warn people about this importer.

I purchased a SR20DET motorset from them on April 15th. The first issue was that I had to convince the owner to give me a warranty. He agreed to a 1 week warranty. When I got home, I checked their website and apparently all motors come with a 1 month warranty. WTF?

Anyways, we installed the motor and the head gasket was blown. There was no compression on cylinder 1. I call Eagle and spend 30 minutes trying to convince them the motor is blown. The douche on the phone was trying to say that the shop did something wrong installing it.

After finally convincing him, he drops off another motorset and takes the old one. He made a big deal about swapping the upper harness from the motors since we did all the mods to the original motor's harness. He finally left after bitching about the harness issue.

We throw the new motor in right away, start up the car, and blue smoke is coming out the back. We were hoping this was just from the motor sitting. After letting the car idle for over an hour, there is still massive amounts of blue smoke at idle. We bust out the compression tester, and cylinder 4 is done.

The next day, I go back to Eagle and tell the owner. He doesn't believe me again. He says low compression on the last cylinder is normal and the motor is fine. At this point, I'm getting angry and we get into a yelling match. This ends with him telling me to call him back in an hour cause hes gonna check to see if he can source another motor from another importer (he doesn't have anymore in stock). I call back in an hour, he says he can't find a motor.

I ask what hes going to do. He says "**** this business" and hangs up. I go back the importer and another argument ensues. He finally decides to refund my cash if I bring the motor back but he won't come pick the motor up. Since I don't have a truck, I have to call a friend and ask for a favour.

We bring everything back and he won't give back the money because we removed the slave cylinder because it was seized. He makes us go all the way back to our shop, get the busted slave and finally gives me the cash.

Just warning people that they have two **** motors now that they are probably gonna try and resell. Do not buy anything from them. They have horrible customer service and do not know what they are selling.

Lesson learned for you, next time do a compression test on the motor before you lay cash out for it.

Also I got a throttle body from him and it was the wrong one and when i took it apart to clean it the IACV had no gasket neither did the map sensor.

Buyer beware.

Agree.

My rule to self is if I can't do a comp. test and a leak down test myself, then they can keep it, period.

And yes, I do carry my own compressor and air tank for the LDT.
