duty / border charges.. need help

okay, i want to bring in some kyb agx gas shocks for the rear of my car from the states, i got a price of $219 canadian w/ shipping, which is very good if you ask me. especially with the exchange where it is right now, i think now would be the best time to buy.

but i know im gonna get hit hard with border charges.. does anyone know how much or what the variables are for this type of thing? any tricks to lowering it? i have to go thru ups.

cause my friend bought a deck (valued @ $600 cdn) and got it on ebay for like $250 usd, then when it got to his door, he had to pay $100 cdn in fees. he ended up paying like $475 in total, he still saved like $125 cdn, but damn..

Nope, you'll get raped no matter what as soon as it hits the border.

its coming from washington
i should drive down and have it done.. but i mean there shocks, and they are replacements. im not upgrading. in other words, my car isnt fit for long drives at the moment

even if i get hit with like $100 cdn in duties, im still getting them cheaper

the cheapest quote i have is $670 for all around without install

UPS charges the same for the shipping (the package doesn't change) but taxes should be less if any

Technically, anything crossing into the country will get snagged for duty and taxes at some point. Duty is about 6% of the Canadian value. There may also be some brokerage and handling fees, depending on who does the shipping. It doesn't matter if it's warranty replacement, you still have to pay based on the value of the goods. What concerns me more is the low price. Are these new from a store or used from an individual. If it's $219 for all four that's so dirt cheap that something doesn't seem right.

My apologies. I should have paid more attention. I thought you were talking all four, but I see it's just rears. $219.00 seems like a reasonable price for these brand new. HOWEVER is that U.S. or Canadian currency? U.S. makes sense, but Canadian it seems too cheap.
