drag strip help
Hi eveynody, I'm going to cayuga today. What's the worst that could happen in a sense of mechanical failure. I got no turbo just minor work to engine. Puts out aproximatly 160HP to wheels. Also how likely am I to brake a driveshaft?
And any tips recomendations would be appreciated. Thanks

hmm well my motor should hold up. i tend to push it to redline once in a while [actualy quite often] and its all oki...im not worried about the motor...the only thing that was bothering me is that my buddy was saying that the track is really sticky and that i could brake the driveshaft.
also there is one more problem, the towing would be an issue since i would not have enough funds to get it back home that is why i dont feel too confident about doing it since if something does brake, i'd have to get a ride from my buddy and leave my car there...somewhere. alright well thanks guys, the driveshaft was the only thing that was bothering me. ill go to cayuga and ill see..
wish me luck

I wouldnt worry about breaking an axle but I can tell you this much, when I took my 1991 hatch with a b18a1 swap to cayuga the first time by the time I drove home my tires (all seasons) were pretty shreded, one of my gears was grinding a little, my alingment was off and I think I had to replace a ball joint. Mind you I was not the best driver then, still am not that great, and I did put like 20 passes on the car that night as well.

man, all sorts of bad stuff can happen at the track.
Last time I went, I ended up breaking the tranny. The top tranny mount bolt-holes/threads were stripped/gone and the mount was no longer attached to the tranny, but I could only tell this once I got it back home and up in the air with the wheels moving. The engine was dancing in the engine bay. It was quite disturbing to know I drove all the way back to Hamilton with my car like that. It felt like my wheels were gunna fall off if I went over 60km/hr. Before I left the track, my licensed honda-mechanic buddy and I jacked the car up and checked it out, but couldn't find anything wrong, so we felt it safe to drive home thinking maybe just all of the stick-on type wheel weights fell off. Boy were we wrong.
I was actually really thinking about going to the track again tonight now that I've got the tranny fixed and my car back on the road again (its my daily driver). I ended up changing the clutch from the exedy organic disk/stage 1 (with 90,000kms on it) to an exedy stage 2. I also replaced the OEM integra mounts with some aftermarket mounts and switched to a LS tranny from the b16 tranny I was using and am now also running 11-12psi.
So if you see a green 95 civic coupe with SIR's and a FMIC thats me.
