Doubling my stake in the Civic nation

Howdy strangers!

Long time. Well after doing some shopping around, (Almost got a Cobalt SS and then a Pontiac Solstice) I still couldn't bring myself to leave the Honda stable.

Though I'm keeping the sol, I'm looking for something to replace the wife's POS sedan.

Looking around, there's some nice hard top 4 seaters comming out next year, Volvo C70 and VW Eos. But I can't bring myself to subject myself to the chance of poor engineering and quality.

Which brings me back to the tried and true "H"... Man the Sol has be a wonder to drive and service myself. Quality of this 97 is still impecable. It took me a while but I think I've convinced the wife to consider the 2006 SI.

I'm reading a lot of positive reviews. 197-200 HP! 7600-8000 RPM??? I think I'm falling in love all over again.

I can't believe I'll have 2 8000 RPM civics in the stable!

There's just something about a high reving VTEC engine....

I can't wait til it comes out!...

Ya the Si should be nice. Is it going to be sold here as the SiR? Because that's how things have been for a while, USDM Si = CDM SiR.
Anyways the badges are not important the 200hp is what is, I still have 99-00 SiR's as #1 on my list but this one is 2nd ahead of the EP3. It has a lot of power, plus the suspension and brakes to go with it, plus it looks pretty good.

Try to hit up a local dealer. They will have the 06 Sedan and Coupes this week. I'm told by my dealer that the Si versions won't be available until the begining of December, but you can always order one. The EX Coupe I saw yeasterday was very, very nice. They are much better looking in person. They look smaller and more compact then the 01-05 Civic. Check out TOV because there is alot of info on there.

I actually don't need it/want it till I get my house. May 06. So I can put both cars in a garage.

I almost got a Solstice to replace the del sol until they told me if I order one now, I won't get it til 2007!

Good thing too because now I'm starting to hear on some soltice forums some major quality issues on BRAND new soltices. (Leaking roofs from garden hose water!)

After some long thinking, I realized, it doesn't matter how sexy the car is, quality and good engineering can't be beat.

I can't believe I even considered something other than a Honda.

No it won't. It will be a SI here as well. Everything US and CAD will match. No more non vtec engine for the civic.

OMG 8500 RPM Rev limit???

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=107050

Having it badge "SIR" would have been cool, but I can live with it whatever it is called.

Cool, I have a collectors item. In 10 years i predict the SOHC No-TEC swap to be a fad.

So is the D series dead? Or do they still offer it in the fit/jazz/city.

I beleive the D-series is now toast. It appears that the new Jazz/City/Fit will use its current engine, the L-series in 1.3L or 1.5L formats, also with i-VTEC.(Same design as the engine in the current Civic Hybrid)
