Doin a swap- 98 DX to a 99 SiR - OBD2 wiring harness question

Confused here a bit ... this is the low down ...

Swapping a 1999 B16A2 in to a 1998 DX coupe ...

been doin some research and it seems like i can swap the motor plug into the ECU and the car will run but the V-TEC needs wired.

Looked on honda-tech and this confused me a bit
i'm lookin to do an OBD2a - OBD2b conversion ?

whats a non v-tec Canadian DX ?
OBD ? ?

i know the B16A2 is OBD2 (thanx cynikal)
but your list didn't specify for the DX ...

? ? ?

peace

i dont know much about EK's but ur gonna need to wire for vtec if ur car didnt have vtec before... its 3 wires....

it is obd2 all you need to do is wire the vtec .
1 wire ground
1 wire pressure sensor
1 wire vtec solenoid
you may also need to wire a knock sensor(back of the engine if not already there) 1 wire not 100% sure if it is already in the harness but that is one easy swap.

OBD2a and OBD2b are separate and distinct from each other 96-98 is 2a, 99+ is 2b

hahah, I just looked at the pinouts for OBD2a and OBD2b, and MAN you are gonna have some rewiring to do boii

imported_SICTOY 10-Aug-2004 09:12 AM

yeah i noticed ....
think i might bring the car to ALTECH actually for the wiring.

do you have the ECU already?? the jumper harness wouldn't be too difficult to make if you're feeling brave. Like me, I bought all the connectors and stuff, now I gotta make the OBD2a-OBD1 harness :-\ info out there is pretty thin for these harnesses, looks like I'll have to do it the old fashioned (pre-internet) way.

Use your stock wiring harness and buy a conversion harness to run the ecu that you want (eg. obd2a to obd2b if you want to run the stock b16a ecu or obd2a to obd1 if you want to run a chipped p28) or just find an obd2a type r ecu, that might be your best bet with the best results. That way all you have to do is add the proper vtec wires, extend the secondary O2 sensor wires, add knock sensor and change the wires for the iac valve. Its not too difficult, find helms for the b16a and for the d16y7, it will help considerably!!!

yeah i have the ECU ... the motor is from a 1999 CDN SiR
i'm brave but still ... need some help ... been checking honda-tech alot. this is where i'm getting some confusion ... lol

hopefully all goes well this weekend ...
my buddy is gonna help me out, which he just dropped an ITR drivetrain in a 94 EG hatch ... he told me the wiring was a nightmare (just took a long time really) and mine should be a walk in the park ... i dunno i hope so (sweating)
