And also does any one now if i will still be able to use that shifter in my 97 cx or will i have to go and buy an after market short through? Because i honestly don't want to get rid of that one its seems like a really solid shifter.

Ya they should all work.
Hell the Civic ones work in my CRX, although they are a pain to set up...
