Exclamation Dependable Garage shops in Milton Area

hey all. I am looking to purchase a 96-00 civic hatchback. I found one in OK condition with not too many kms on it but it's located in Milton. The body is ok, but the engine is leaking oil from the bottom somewhere and i cant see where. I live in Scarborough, and i was wondering if anyone on this forum knows of any good garage shops in the Milton area and around. If anyone knows of any, please let me know.....
And also, i was wondering if i were to bring it to a garage shop there, do you guys think it would be alright if i gave the mechanic $20 or so to do a checkup of the car and see if anything is wrong with it. Do you think that the guy would just start feeding me bullshit or would he be truthful?
I'm a pretty big n00b when it comes to car mechanics, but i do know some basic stuff.

Thanks

if your going to offer them 20 bucks make sure u go there first dont just show up with the car and ask them to do it . i dont know whats a reasonable price for that but 20 bucks seems cheep .

that was quick. lol.

I was thinking if anyone would recommend them here, i would call them up first, and then talk to them and then tell them when I would be coming in. So you're saying $20 is tooo cheap and that i should offer more? If so, how much would you say?

Zeeman and I can check the car out for you. However $20 is very unreasonable. If you want PM zeeman or myself with exactly what you want done and we will respond with an estimate.

We are not in milton, but in Oakville, I hope the trip will be worth it.

I see, thanks anyways though. I don't want to start looking in the yellow pages and just start calling random numbers. ( although, i might have to start doing that if no one knows here of any... >_< )

20 bucks??..

highly dout you'll get a mechanic to check it out for that..

$60-100 is a better range..

I cleared my PM box.

Also..Like kracker has pointed out. Most shops will not look at a vehicle for less than one hours labour. So for most shops that's around $90 plus tx.

So basically, it'll cost me ~$100 to lift the car up on a hoist check where the oil is coming from and tell me how much it'll be to fix it?
