CRX's any regrets?

with another EG, you wouldn't have to worry too much about the rust, motor, etc cause it will be a newer car. And the EG's are easier for engine swaps. Plus you get the benefit of power steering, air conditioning, power mirrors etc.
Swaps are just as easy for the CRX, (b16) unless ofcoarse you want to swap in anything more than that in which thats true.
You dont need power steering in a CRX since its so small and light, would help when parking I admit though.
There are CRX's with A/C, I have it in mine and it works fine.
But you're right about power mirrors, but they can always be added in from JDM and EDM parts, but why?
Don't forget if you get an Si you'll get a power sunroof and the insurance will be a lot cheaper than getting a 5th gen coupe or hatchback (Si model)
Anyways loudsubz I say ya wait until you find a "perfect" CRX.

ya, i'd say look at tonnnnnnnnns of crx's before you actually get one, i test drove probably 30 or so before i got mine, it ended up the one i got used to be a back up car for a guy who used to race crx's at mosport

Yeah I have a huge regret---
How does spinning a bearing sound?
fairly bad eh!
It feel's even worse when you find out that--------
I spun the bearing on a ******* KNIFE EDGED CRAND, that was blue printed and balanced!
But apart from that NO REGRET'S. If you can afford it buy the REX. You can fix the body later, piece by piece. Great project car's as you can do anything to them.

Rant sort of
Actually the insurance thing isn't that big of an increase. Well for me it wasn't. I drive a 1989 civic dx hatch right now. If I wanted a 1995 civic dx coupe, the increase was only $20/month. That's third party and theft coverage. If you are going to do an engine swap, it doesn't even matter what trim level civic you get so save your self the insurance premium with a lowly cx, dx, lx whatever.
Power steering is good because your car won't be pulled around as easily by impurities in the road. Without power steering, my car is pulled left and right (a bit exagerated i'll admit) by street car tracks, train tracks, routes in the road from year and years of truck abuse, and even in the winter (especially in KW cause we're in a snow belt) when you have to drive in tire tracks left by other vehicles. It's really difficult to change lanes in these kinds of conditions. Call me a wimp or whatever but power steering is a HELL of a lot safer.
The only advantage I can think of when it comes to non power assisted vehicles is that you don't lose that 5-8 (whoppee) parasitic engine loss trying to drive the PS pump all the time. And you get good feed back from your tires in your steering wheel (ie when you've lost grip in the front).
But in the end, I do love my 4th gen hatch (not a crx but close enough. I need the trunk and rear seats). But it really is a 'purists' (or cheapskates, frugal, whatever) car. You really have to love the EF civics to want to own and maintain one.

Warfa: you're right, but I meant an Si, not the DX model. When you compare a CRX Si to a Civic Si (5th gen) theres a quite a jump.
I can only speak on myself for me the CRX is be about 120ish and my friend has a '94 Civic Si Coupe and he pays about 200ish per month, so there is a pretty big jump.
As for the PS issue, the CRX is well known for having probably the best suspension of any stock Honda(excluding Acura line(. Everyone knows the thing handles like its on rails and you can "feel" the road pretty well. (I think the Prelude and S2K are the exceptions)
I can't really comment on the snow issue, (I drove it once in snow) since I don't drive my CRX in the winter, but I can see what ya mean. But if the roads are always plowed you're good to go!
You are right about EF series though.

Thanks for all the opionions everyone. I think the best thing for me to do now, is just wait, and buy the best crx i can find then use it as a project car and build it up, instead of rushing now.
Besides its winter and I wont have any fun with it.

I agree with all you guys. Owning a 4th gen or a CRX is like a love/hate relationship. Sometimes I hate my car and sometimes I love it. The thing is that I'm picky. All the creeks and rattles in my car drive me insane. (IMO) I wouldn't get the CRX its too old and if you really like comfort look for something else.

I used to own an 89 SI and I have no regrets at all! I bought it for $6 g's and sold it for $4 g's. Drove it for six years and put very little money into it. It was a life saver! One of the best reliable cars. I don't regret selling it as well! You want my opinion look at my sig!
