Close calls

How many of you have had close calls to an accident. If so, explain it, and what you did about it. I almost go hit by someone last night. they were turning right off of the highway, and swerved into my middle lane without signaling. I had to make a drastic skid to the left to avoid a collision. IF YOU CAN"T DRIVE, DON'T DRIVE AT ALL. I sped away in fear that it was a drunk driver. I am sick of people who do not know how to drive. I've never had a speeding ticket, or a collision and i am 19 driving for 2 years. So if I am a teenager and am not getting into an accident or getting speeding tickets, I don't understand how people can be so careless with the way they drive....Just my opinion.

being in close calls is something I have learned u have to get used to when driving a small car...I've had way too many than I wanna recall and quite a few were pretty nuts. like one for instance

I was goin to windsor and I was travellin down the 401 and we hit a snow squall, complete white out conditions...so I slow to an appropriate speed, turn hazards on and continue on the in the centre lane (only lane that had tire tracks in it) and then what do I see in my rear view? 2 18 wheelers comin at me at way more than the speed I was goin and they were comin at me! an evasive mauever was out of the question so I just held my ground there and they both split around me (one went around the left and the the other the right) it was pretty fuggin nuts...that was my excitement for that trip

I've had a lot of close calls, but i've been in 5 accidents so the close calls are a huge relief for me.
I think that people target my car or something, 5 accidents and only 1 has been my fault (was no other cars involved, I just spun out and hit the curb, and my jeep was on 2 wheels for like 10 seconds)

But I'd have to agree, if you can't drive stay off the road!

Yea Ive had a few close calls especially with people making lefts when your going straight, a lot of people can't judge the distance. Gotta act quick to avoid them. Its basic instinct to avoid accidents.

i guess ive been lucky, only one close call butnot that bad.
i have bad luck with animals, like yesterday on the way to school, i got off at aberdeen and there were two baby geese on the off ramp on the leftside. i slowed down and moved closer to the right side so i left plenty of space between me and the geese, then all of a sudden the mother goose runs right in front of my car, so while trying to avoid it i almost rammed into the curb.
stupid animals

Too many stupid drivers out there so I've had my fair share of close calls, unfortunately.

The most recent one was last weekend. I was driving westbound and approaching an intersection where a Chevy Blazer was signaling to turn left (northbound). I'm practically AT the intersection and Mr. Stupid-Blazer-Driver decides to make the turn! I had to slam on the brakes and swerve to the right. The Blazer stopped too, but he ended up in the lane that I was just in so if I hadn't swerved, the front end would've probably been a goner.

I had a great close call on the 404 last summer. I was driving up to Uxbridge doing 100 + a bad ticket, cruising behind a red Trans Am which I was hoping would catch the attention of any cops. Passing some traffic in the left lane I noticed a Talon with big chrome wheels driving along. He sped up as the T/A passed him and I was checking out his wheels every so often. Then I realized it was getting easier and easier to see the wheels, mostly because he was pulling into my lane. The only problem was that I was in my lane and he was trying to enter it via my passenger side door. So I honk the horn a few times but it doesn't seem to work. I ended up on the shoulder of the highway, still at speed because I didn't want to hit the brakes and make the situation any worse. So I got run off the road basically. The part that really pissed me off was that he decided to do 110 once I slowed down enough for him to pull in front of me, making me lose my red rabbit. I came up his *** so fast I could hear his tires squeal as he got out of my way. Some people.

I had one about a year ago. I was cruising westbound on the 401 on the way to work and the traffic came to a sudden halt. I saw it coming so I braked early, but the guy behind me in an Audi was either eating, talking on his cell phone but not paying attention. He was coming up behind me at full speed. At the last second before impact, he swerved left onto the shoulder and barreled right by me by at least 2 car lengths before he came to a stop. I think he was more freaked out than I was because he didn't continue on right away.

i've had my share of close calls. the few that come to mind are:

1) almost getting drilled by a trucker on a 401 on-ramp.

it was wet out and there were lots of cars so i had to come to a full stop on the ramp. the damn 18-wheeler behind me wasnt paying attention at all and i see him coming up in my rearview at full speed. at the LAST SECOND he decides to slam the brakes, i hear this nasty skidding sound and the truck somes to a stop like a foot away from my bumper. i was freakin scared ****less. damn truckers

2) this other time i was on the 401 making a lane change to pass a SUV. i checked my blind spot then when i looked ahead i saw these massive blocks of wood sitting right in the middle of the lane! i had no time to react and i just ran right over them. the impact was brutal, knocked the faceplate right off my deck! my driver side front tire immediately blew and my car started shaking bad and pulling hard to the left. luckily i was able to slow down and pull off onto the shoulder without incident. the scariest part was changing the damn flat while these 18 wheelers were flying by me at 100km/h about 2 feet away!

3) last one was almost falling asleep at the wheel! **** that was scary. i was driving home late at night on the 400 from my gf, was tired as hell. i remember i was thinking about somethign and the next thing i knew my were eyes closed. i ALMOST fell asleep but miraculously i just woke up and openned my eyes again. i think they were shut a good 3-5 seconds. i've NEVER driven while being that tired again. and if i'm just a bit tired, i make sure to stay alert at all times!

Actually that happened to me once too about 6 years ago. I was driving home from taking my boyfriend to work about 11:30 after working all day and my eyes shut. I was in the left lane on the 401 and my left tires hit the edge of the shoulder and I was jolted awake. That was the first and last time that ever happened.

My buddy and I went out for lunch during school in his new RSX and we were making a left turn into the plaza in the middle of the day and some idiot in a beat up Ford pickup runs the red light. By this time were already turning and I, being in the passenger seat, can only see this guys headlights. He made no attempt to brake, luckily the RSX is quick because we just avioded him. Reported it the cops, but never heard anything. Oh well.
