A TL doesn't have 300 hp

6 years ago, at the time, I was between the Civic Hatch, or the Prelude. I did some calculation and found out that I "could" afford it, but I would have got no savings left - and I had to pay student loans and other expenses. My salary right out of the University was 26,000 dollars.

That, was not realistic for me. If I have to sell my car to pay for bills, that is beyond sadness. So I got the Civic.

But now, after 6 years, I can afford something else but I am saving hard for wedding and future plan so the idea of changing the car stopped, for now.

Fiance has a new TSX, that's luxury enough for me anyway. My mother has a MCC, great summer car if I need to go topless.

Right now, I can afford the following vehicles, just got a good chunk of a raise. And yes I did my research/calculations, btw you would be surprised most of these cars are cheaper in insurance than my Civic. :S

2000-2004 Toyota Tacoma Ext-Cab V6 4x4
2002-2003 Nissan Pathfinder LE
1998-2000 Lexus GS400
2002-2003 Acura RSX Type S
2002-2003 WRX STi

Yes, luxury used cars are affordable. I too have been thinking of a couple.

Affording an expensive car is easy when you live at home and have a decent job. Wait a few years when you have a mortgage/rent, bills, student loans, etc to pay. Those $35000+ cars won't be so affordable anymore.

People need to be realistic. Most of us will never own some of the cars we mentioned.

But really now, how fast can you possibly go on the highways? Isn't 250hp or whatever the TL has enough?

realistically...
accord v6 hybrid
tsx
is250

my friend already got a job offer from ATI for june... he's picking up a g35 coupe soon... his salary about 80K annual, not including extra benefits yet =) pretty decent

and if i get any of my job offers... 80% chance i'm down to the states... and i'll probably mortgage a condo up here in toronto... because most of the job i'm applying (no company name mentioned) in the states offers free living, free rental, and free lunch hahaha.... i hope years of studying pays off good soon... that means i won't even need to get a car which is good... just focus on living good and travel around with gf, family, and friends

Before deciding on an EK Civic I considered getting:
EG Civic
Nissan 240SX (to get one the same price as my EK it would have been atleast 5 years older)
BMW 320i (all I could have afforded would be an old high mileage one so decided not too)
Eagle Talon TSI (couldn't find one with low kms. and insurance would have been high)
